Why are umpires in #Tennis films and TV shows so cringe-worthy? In #FifteenLove on #PrimeVideo, every umpire sounds like they're officiating at a nice afternoon friendly between old chums rather than a grand slam final, and no umpire would ever say "so-and-so leads by one game to love". Does this happen in content about other sports too?
Having said all that, the awkwardness with wich the series had to imply the existence and importance of #Wimbledon, without being allowed to actually say it, was pretty entertaining. We had SW19, The championships, and epithets galore, but the W word was strictly off-limits. Not sure why; the #FrenchOpen was mentioned in every other sentence in the opening episode, as were other tournaments like the Open Sud de France.
