Okay, so it seems like after replacing the nib 3 times, I finally got a good one for my Jinhao No9019. I'll be honest, if buying a 3 pack of nibs hadn't been so cheap I would have probably just thrown this pen out and cut my losses. The nib it came with was trash, 2 of the replacement nibs were also trash. That's wildly bad.
Now that I have a good nib though, I can see why people like the pen. For the price it does write well.
But yeah, you should never have to throw away 3 nibs to find a good one. Regardless of how cheap the pen is.
I never bought a Chinese made fountain pen before. I'm usually not a fan of knockoffs, even when they're good they're usually not as good as the originals. But Jinhao came out with something pretty neat recently, the Jinhao Dadao no 9019. The design is a lot more their own than a copy of someone else, it's also a pretty large pen, which I find I really do like. Also comes with a screw in converter, which is nice. It's going to be fun to break this one in and see how it goes. :)
Today’s fountain pen is the Jinhao 9019. I would call it an upgrade to the X159. A bit bigger and better plastic, huge (think TWSBI Swipe) screw in converter that is still standard international compatible, still the same great no. 8 nib. Oh, and fun colors!
