The 25th Anniversary Phantasy Star Visual Chronicles is an artbook covering the entire Phantasy Star series. It contains an extensive section for PSO2 Episode 1, including character profiles for every NPC that appears. These profiles are short, but have some interesting details that aren't brought up anywhere else.
