Is complicated, every Chilean you ask will have a different opinion, but I think there are many reasons to think that chile will manage and there is hope for the future, you can make a post in !chile, the Chilean community on lemmy too.

A lot of Chileans don’t like chile, but IMO they just fall in the “neighbour has geener grass” fallacy, we have a lot of problems but we have a lot of the tools to fix them, tools that many other countries don’t.

I think that, provided you have studies or some money, chile is a great country to live, Chilean culture, at its core, has a lot of solidarity, people do think about other people, specially in a natural disaster.

The government, as much as they have done dumb shit, it’s generally competent in keeping the country afloat, they got everyone vaccinated from COVID very early for example.

Good infrastructure, public and private health, tons of natural beauty, is reasonably safe, even if less than in the past, yeah, I like chile, I think I’m lucky to have been born here, could have been a lot worse.

You may like chile too, I can’t say, but, specially if you hold on to an online US job (Chilean jobs pay way less) you should be pretty fine here as an American.

a veces tengo una envidia al pasado, claro que habia una infinitud de cosas que estaban muy mal, pero a veces odio vivir en este mundo tan inteligente e interconectado de hoy, mucha adicción al fono.

A mi me gusta, como un atractivo que veo en la ingeniería, la idea del “pionerismo”, en el sentido de ser el primero en hacer algo, donde todo es desconocido y solo puedes arreglártelas mediante la prueba y error, llámese los cohetes de Goddard, o (ponerle jets a un tren de cercanías a ver si se puede.)[en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-497_Black_Beetle], y me parece tan, pero tan fome que un computador te pueda decir de ante mano si lo que quieres hacer va a funcionar o no que a veces me apena, seguro que hay mil espacios donde aún se necesita pionerismo hoy, pero pareciera, a veces que los problemas ya están resueltos nomás, como las aperturas de ajedrez… quizá son puras tonteras, pero de verdad quisiera tener la oportunidad de estar en el campo ahí, con las manos en a maza haciendo algo que no se habia hecho antes.

That one worked because it was just an inneficient way of pointing the fan backwards, the center of mass, as the average of the position of all the mass doesn’t move from inside forces, just outside ones, so for the car to move the mass of the magnet and arm would meet to move in relation to the car, because they can’t, the car doesn’t move too.

Wich is basically just a long way of saying “Newton laws”.

Creo que romantizar a las tomas es un error, claro que para muchos son la última opción, pero simplemente las tomas pueden ser un elemento muy detrimental para la ciudad que las rodea, seguro que varía de campamento en campamento, pero pueden robar terrenos que tenían otro fin necesario, como pasó con la pequeña haití, que la tuvieron que limpiar para construir el ferrocarril, pueden construirlas en lugares no-aptos para la edificación, pueden ser peligrosas a la hora de incendios y bueno, el narco se apropia de esos lugares.

Al final las tomas no son inocuas, y tenemos que sopesar si la toma daña más a la sociedad que el desalojo de los pobladores lo haría.
