Technically, probably not. I often think a lot more people get grouped into being operatives than actually are. I think most of the time they are individuals that serve CIA interests and are consequently propped up/allowed to flourish, without being actual operatives. Javier seems a bit too legitimately batshit to be an actual op.

But he is absolutely acting at their behest, knowingly or not. So the distinction ultimately makes little difference.

It’s always the same like three or four talking points too, every single time. They aren’t even particularly compelling ones.

It’s not like China is a perfect country that cannot be criticized whatsoever, but their arguments always boil down to “Oh yeah, social credit and winnie the pooh! TAKE THAT WUMAO”

Well…yeah, I don’t think anyone was making the argument that ALL muslims were lgbt socialists. Just that the overlap does exist. What a strange hill for them to make a stand on. It’s really not any different than the other abrahamic religions in that respect.

Though entirely anecdotally, the majority of the theists I know who are socialists are Muslim.

I use it for some of my other more mundane interests still (music and cooking stuff predominantly), but not politics. Trying to be a leftist on twitter is a special kind of futile. I don’t actually post much of anything on it, but there are some good recipe and music resources I keep an eye on from time to time, it remains decent for that.

That’s the opposite of Russia’s defensive doctrine, which would only be exacerbated further by the ability to deploy reserves where necessary. It could be a different story if Ukraine wasn’t having to commit their exploitation forces just to try to reach the first lines of defense; even if they break through tomorrow they won’t really have the manpower to do anything with it.

They had one a year ago, that was probably far more favorable than anything they will see now, until their minders shot it down.

This isn’t even close to being a a legitimate peace proposal, at best it is an attempt to spin a “look, those mean Russians won’t accept peace!” news story. There’s nothing even resembling a concession, it reads more like a demand for unconditional surrender.

I think the Cristo Redentor probably one of the most recognizable symbols of Brazil, and whether or not you are Christian it is pretty impressive feat. I am an atheist myself, but that doesn’t preclude me from appreciating artistic/architectural achievements that represent religious symbology. Along with Taj Mahal (also pictured) it is one of the New Seven Wonders.

In your mind, what would be a better symbol? The National Congress is pretty recognizable but not nearly as iconic.

Physical: Only something with limited availability. Basically collector’s editions of stuff. Even then, you are paying a premium for an art book and some odds and ends. I have a friend that preorders all the FFXIV expansion collector’s editions, which is a faily safe bet because they already know they like the base game. Personally these are never worth it for me.

Digital: Never. There’s the whole crowdfunding-for-indie-games argument (which starfield is decidely not), but that is totally different discsussion in my opinion.

In the event there is some kind of digital preorder bonus that you actually want, you can always wait to an hour before release to “preorder”, after reviews have already circulated.

I stand corrected comrade. I admit I lack the technical expertise on doohickeys, I need to study more.

Technically the work week is the same, not factoring in commutes. Folks who work in Tokyo often live in neighboring cities like Saitama and commute in.

There’s typically a lot of unpaid overtime though. There is the concept of “black companies” that force employees to work up to 100 hours a week. To some degree the government has been trying to crack down on it, and has met with some success, especially with the bigger international. My company is the Japanese branch of a US company, so we are a little better than most, but some of that still happens. I probably work about 45-50 hours a week on the clock on average, plus maybe 2-3 off the clock. I don’t live or work in Tokyo anymore, so my commute is fairly insignificant.

Thankfully the “you have to go out drinking with all of your coworkers after work” thing has mostly fallen by the wayside. Those events still happen, but it is way more acceptable to just…not go.

Japanese permanent resident here.

Epidurals are very rare. They exist but they are not popular at all. Some is the belief that a “natural” birth is better. In some cases it is just availability of an anesthiaologist that is equipped to do one. Some people just don’t even realise it is an option. The only people I know here who have had one were non-Japanese residents.

I don’t think people necessarily look down on a mother who has one, it’s rare enough that nobody would even ask probably, but it’s just not a common procedure.
