The 3rd ed of #ArsMagica actually say in the book it will be the final edition of the game. Interesting, considering there have been two more editions published, and something like a new one again being mentioned earlier this year. I wonder why they wrote that?
As I gear up to run #2300AD, what do I do to concentrate my efforts? I did find a used copy of 3rd ed Ars Magica on my local eBay, and bought that one! It's a game I have never managed to figure out.
@SJohnRoss I have a very conflicted relationship with #ArsMagica. I never have managed to play it without the covenant becoming a giant resource management millstone around our necks.
Also, I don't think I enjoy the medievalist sim part of it either.
I do love the magic system, but have not played it in such a way it ever got used more than for player enjoyment, vs. character usage.
That is all the prep work done. Tomorrow we make characters for 2300AD. As so often before, the biggest issue is how to make the characters join up where the adventure is?
A sneaky corporation has set up a "research station" that's not really a research facility at all, but an industrial installation.
End of the year fun, check who has the most tabs open in their browser, and who subscribes to most youtube channels. How about more than 300 and over 600? No, not the same individuals for both records.
@SJohnRoss yeah, you have to be wired differently than you and me to work like that. I push for as few as possible, but with a few communication channels spread out I rarely go below 10. Above than I start to fret, though.
Once a year I take down the books for Mage:The Ascension and marvel at that glorious mess of a game. Sometimes I even think of how to salvage it, but never gets far.
This was that week, and I have now put it back on the shelf again. I love the idea of Mage.
@Sandchigger it's a marvellous game, but more horror than I think Mage ever was. But it is truly a great game. I think the 2nd ed rule book contain some of the best writing in the business.
Atom Heart Mother does't seem to be much of a favourite if you ask Roger or David, but I find the first long orchestrated track quite goovy in all its pompous and overthought way. It's 23 minutes of crazy, and I can't help loving it.
@paradoxmo it's a Diplomat Magnum, so it's a c/c pen. I decided to flush it again, with detergent, as nobody else seems to have issues with this specific ink.
