In the near future, development will be a simple thing. Many new tools are being created every day to make developers’ lives easier, so they can create more powerful things. I also believe that this is the first step from Microsoft towards AGI.

Ayhem,

Linux is better than Windows for several reasons. Firstly, Linux is open source, which means that users can see the source code used to create Linux and check it for bugs and security vulnerabilities. Secondly, Linux is more customizable than Windows, allowing users to tweak their system’s looks and build and customize a server just the way they want. Thirdly, Linux is known for its excellent performance, particularly on older hardware, and is more efficient than Windows when it comes to resource usage and multitasking capabilities. Finally, Linux is generally considered to be more secure than Windows due to its open-source nature

Ayhem,

I would recommend Linux Mint. They are currently in the beta stage, so I suggest waiting for the official release. Mint is known for its stability, reliability, and focus on security. It is also user-friendly, making it a great choice for those transitioning from Windows.

Ayhem,

PS: I recommend using Linux Mint in a virtual machine first before fully switching over. Alternatively, you can try it out using a live USB, which will give you a better idea of what Linux is like.

Ayhem,

Quick math: With 2.5 million users and 50k daily active users, let's assume that there are around 100k maximum real users. This means that approximately 2.4 million accounts are bots, duplicated accounts, or inactive.

To address this issue, we need to find a solution sooner rather than later. One possible solution is to implement measures to prevent bots and remove inactive accounts. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Implement CAPTCHA: Integrate CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) during the registration process. This can help verify that the user is a real person and not a bot.
  2. Email verification: Require users to verify their email addresses during the registration process. This can help ensure that the accounts are created by real individuals.
  3. Activity-based account pruning: Regularly monitor user activity and remove accounts that have been inactive for a certain period of time. This can help keep the user base updated and remove dormant or unused accounts.
  4. Implement user behavior analysis: Utilize algorithms to analyze user behavior patterns and identify suspicious activities that may indicate bot accounts. This can help flag and remove potential bot accounts.
  5. Two-factor authentication (2FA): Enable 2FA as an additional layer of security for user accounts. This can help prevent unauthorized access and reduce the likelihood of bot activity.
  6. Regular security audits: Conduct regular security audits to identify and address any vulnerabilities that may be exploited by bots. This can help strengthen the overall security of the platform.

By implementing these measures, we can significantly reduce the presence of bots and inactive accounts, improving the overall user experience on Lemmy.

Ayhem,

Is the Android play store version "official" because it didn't get updated yet !?

Ayhem,

Thanks
