@soheb oh no I've always been like this even when I was a child I'd be up at half 7 to watch cartoons! During lockdown when I was furlouged my body still woke me up at 7! (I just made up for it with naps) 😂
It’s important to not overeat and looking at calories is a way to achieve that.
But when I take a look at the total amount of calories of just the PKU formulas, it’s a meal. (550 calories). 😒
The only way I found dealing with that is intermittent fasting (time restricted window), eating only 2 meals of food and carefully spread formulas during the day.
@poconnor@pcublogue@soheb I completely feel this, going from tablets to drinks my calorie intake went crazy, I was pretty much having a forth meal worth of calories.
I gained so much more weight during precon that I now have to try and shift, as well as the normal pregnancy weight gain 😅
One thing I always get stuck on when eating with #PKU is remembering to eat and remembering what I actually have in my cupboards!
So I have my fruit and snack bowls, all filled either prescription snacks, less than half a gram or completely protein free snacks, so I'm less likely to go for the snacks that are more interesting but heavier in protein (yoghurt, crisps etc)
@poconnor@soheb handy for when you're in the middle of cooking, covered in sauce and you can't remember what protein potatoes are and your phone is in the other room 😂
So, I dreamt that I underwent a surgery where I was implanted with a gadget just a little smaller than a credit card and that was supposed to drastically decrease the amount of phenylalanine I had in my body. 😳
This feels like the end of a very long, hard nearly 3 year journey (started pre-contraception diet in 2021!) but I'm so damn proud of myself for getting through it, and to come out the otherside with a beautiful, happy and healthy baby.
No more carrying around extra water, powder everywhere, bag explosions, spilling on carpet, feeling sick from being too full, midnight forcing to get last one in, but just most importantly NO MORE DRINKS! 🥺
@caoimhin The secret with the microtabs is to take them like you're taking a shot 😂
I start with taking just a sip of water to hold in your mouth, which stops them sticking to your mouth, tip the whole lot in, and then take a second big glug of water to get them down!
You can do it in two halves just to get the practice in, but having that initial water in makes all the difference as well as the speed which means you don't have tablets flying everywhere!

This might be a hot take and yes the environment is important and animals but I think majority of general public are pretty aware now and are doing their best in a depressed cost of living crisis, guilt the damn mega corporations and governments that don't recycle, with your cute turtles!
