Cuttlersan,

Out of curiosity, what was the Creek incident? The initial fight for Malevelon?

Cuttlersan,

Ahhh, thanks for clarifying! Figured it was ridiculous lmao

Cuttlersan,

Seems to be the Year of Nintendo Burning Bridges. Upside is, maybe all the competition they’re finally getting in both the handheld space and in some of their big software franchises will force them to try to produce better content and hardware. Or it’ll be Nintendo and they’ll stay greedy in their walled garden with inferior products; at the very least we’ll have some superior alternatives to enjoy elsewhere!

Cuttlersan,

Not at all! But seeing numbers like Palworld sales drove gives me hope GameFreak could panic a little and start trying (although as I mentioned Nintendo and their subsidiaries are greedy and merch sales are still strong for them, along with subpar game sales for the fanbase currently). Perhaps other subsidiaries of Nintendo. Certainly making more of an impact in attracting players than Digimon did when I was a kid, and that’s more of a change than I’ve seen in the last 20 or so years for Nintendo’s monster trainer.

In recent years Nintendo has had a little blue ocean to swim in, and they’ve shown that rather than compete or innovate as times change, they instead like to wall their garden off more. But hey, maybe Zelda and Pokemon can have an awesome next gen if they invest in a more powerful console (handheld or not) and spend a few years reworking their formula and passionately building an innovative game, like they used to do when I was a kid.

Once upon a time the Gameboy was a fairly powerful handheld system, and Pokémon Red was a groundbreaking game. But those days are gone, and the entire umbrella company as a whole needs to begin to try or they will continue to fall behind. Nostalgia only lasts as long as the affected generation(s). I’m hopeful something like the shocks of this year could change their mindset a little and get them to modernize a bit.

Cuttlersan,

It’s quiet… too quiet… something new has to be coming, I wonder if anyone can Illuminate me here?

Cuttlersan,

Agreed! Giving up is giving in to oligarchs who have profited relentlessly off of our suffering and the defiling of our home. Stand up! It’s better to die on your feet fighting than on your knees, groveling to the rich while they pickpocket your dying corpse.

Climate apocalypse is here for us all. Wanton apathy and inaction leads only to guaranteed failure!

Cuttlersan,

Ah yes, the people who have explicitly called the US their enemies are actually TOTALLY SECRET agents lolol jeez, talk about a baseless claim! Looks like we found our Russian/Chinese/Iranian troll in the comments doing their best to spin this as: USA bad, must be USA’s fault, west=evil.

Lmao you’ll have to try harder than that, friend.

Cuttlersan,

You need to use better sources. I see a number of untrustworthy sites here, and just a Reddit post (entirely unreliable source). Also seeing a lot of straw man arguments in what you’re saying.

Try to have some nuance; the world isn’t divided into two clean sides, and multiple parties can have hostile stances towards each other at the same time. That does not mean “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” if that enemy of your enemy is also attacking you. For example, the US killed ISIS-K’s leader back in 2015; not a friendly maneuver. (Source: www.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN10N21L/ )

Now, Russia has actually done a lot to earn this terror group’s ire; we have the history of the Tzar’s trying to conquer Afghanistan, the Soviet Afghan War that took 10 years in the 1980’s and was Russia’s Vietnam with a massive civilian death-toll and the destruction of vast amounts of infrastructure, the wars and oppression in Chechnya, the heavy support with Russian boots on the ground for Assad in the Syrian Civil War against the civilian rebels, the ongoing extreme violence and repression of Muslims by Prighozin’s Africa Corps, and the now the forced mobilization of Russia’s ethnic minorities (many who are Muslims from Central Asia) to fight in their morally bankrupt genocide against Ukraine. China has plenty of pressure points with ISIS-K too; chiefly the ongoing Uighur genocide, hence the attacks against Chinese officials in Afghanistan.

Turns out if you do decades of terrorism against a people they might do it to you, regardless of if your country is considered “East” or “West”.

Michigan Lawmaker Introduces Bill Requiring State Health Plans to Cover Cutting-Edge Cancer Treatments (www.propublica.org)

In February 2020, Forrest VanPatten died fighting Priority Health, one of Michigan’s largest health insurers, over its refusal to pay for CAR-T cell therapy, his last-chance treatment. The therapy works by genetically reengineering patients’ own cells, then infusing them back into the body to beat back their disease....

Cuttlersan,

RIP Forrest VanPatten 🌹 your sacrifice won’t be forgotten.

Cuttlersan,

Deck is superior to Switch! And obligatory F—- Nintendo, and their 1990’s mindset with games and hardware. I’m convinced they’ll have to financially fail to start caring. Even a 30% reduction in their sales and player counts should quickly seize their attention.

At this point 2024 is looking like the Year Of Nintendo’s Failures starting off with Palworld. They certainly deserve to fail!

Cuttlersan,

So backwards they work their butts off to even chase the porn they consume out of their state.

Cuttlersan,

Well, looks like I won’t be playing Subnautica 2 lol

Cuttlersan,

No joke! Should it crossover I think even the super rich would find themselves hard pressed to escape it. Maybe some personal danger for the super rich would prompt them to start caring and invest in research on it? Guessing it’d be way too little too late as usual though.

What games would you reccomend to someone who really enjoyed Industries of Titan and was immensely disappointed by it's incomplete release?

What the title says. If I was to best describe what I liked so much about it, I would say that it was how it had both a serious ‘cozy factor’ (ex: anno 1800) while still being difficult and requiring effort+skill to win. What other games scratch that itch?

Cuttlersan,

The other two are obviously good, but seriously try Captain of Industry! Nothing like watching your mining operations slowly but surely terraform the face of your island lol

Cuttlersan,

Oh, cool! Looks like the IndustrialCraft mod from back in the day :)

Cuttlersan,

That’s crazy! Was just up at Superior in September and it felt surreally warm for that lake (like 60-65F, compared to the icy 45-50F it usually is even in the summer). I wonder how long before the temperatures at the lakebed begin to turn up too; normally the cold depth keeps decomposition away, but if it were to start to heat up down there, then that could all change drastically.

Cuttlersan,

True that! But I remember Superior being fairly icy even in the dog days of August and early September back in the ‘90’s lol it was bizarre having it feel lukewarm on my bare skin!

Cuttlersan,

Condolences friend 🙈 TBH I prefer that nice 20C weather (that’s 68F for any folks in the US reading; 40C would be 104F). Right now it’s 2.78C here (37F) and that’s unusually warm this time of year. But you are quite welcome to have a bit of our freezing rain on my behalf jk lol :p

Cuttlersan,

That’s awesome:D lots of great parks to go see too!

Cuttlersan,

I mean, Devilman Crybaby is without a doubt. Not exactly sure if that’s what you’re looking for though.

Players who don't like survival games as a genre: Which survival games are your personal exceptions, which ones have you enjoyed nonetheless and why?

Personally, I really don’t like most of these games due to the tedium and frustration that comes with hunger/thirst mechanics. Most of the exceptions that I do actually like either make up for it through something else that elevates the experience enough - or they either don’t have these mechanics or allow for players to...

Cuttlersan,

And don’t forget you can play the whole thing in VR with the VHVR mod! I’ve played 330+ hours over 3 runs with my friends in VR, beating the Queen while panicking into repeated freefalls into pit (thank you feather cloak) was an insane experience (Yag too TBF; out of our 3 person group everybody died at least once, and several times the lone survivor was stuck doing laps with hordes of Fulings and a few berserkers and shamans in the parade until the others sprinted back from their beds.) Blessings to corpse run lmao
