@klausgesprochen abhängig von Wissensstand deiner Eltern und der Hardware um die es geht ist ein Chromebook u.u. wesentlich wartungsärmer... Laptops können bei Linux ja gerne auch mal zickig sein weil die verbauten Komponenten nicht immer solide unterstützt werden.

@klausgesprochen manche Systeme (z.b. ThinkPad) sind dabei besser geeignet als andere. In keinem Fall würde ich meinen Eltern aber ein System in die Hand drücken bei dem sie gelegentlich technisch eingreifen müssen... auch das eher ein Argument für Chromebook

Mir geht's nicht um eine "ist Windows Grütze oder nicht" Diskussion.
Ich spreche von Effekten wie Soundkarten die nach dem Sleep nicht mehr aufwachen oder Komponenten die nur einen Teil ihrer Fähigkeiten haben. Das ist jetzt auch wirklich keine neue Beobachtung sondern unter anderem der Grund warum es Hersteller von speziellen Linux Laptops gibt bei denen die Komponenten ordentlich gewählt und abgestimmt sind. Hängt also wie ich schon schrieb vom Rechner ab.

Ich habe über die Jahre eine Handvoll Laptops irgendwann auf Linux umgestellt und das einzige System bei dem wirklich jede Komponente so funktionierte wie sie sollte war ein ThinkPad. Das hängt jetzt sicherlich auch mit meiner mangelnden Fachkenntnis zusammen, kundige Admins können das sicherlich besser. Das ist im Zweifel aber noch ein weiteres Argument warum ich so etwas nur für mich selbst und nicht für die erweiterte Familie mache.
