I’m not kidding that for a second I wondered if the tweeter was going to follow up with “Thomas Friedman actually wrote that.” I read it in my mind in his voice. I was almost disappointed that it wasn’t the case.

She keeps ad libing and free styling throughout the speech. After her speech as she’s walking around doing the smiley-gob plus meet-n-greet that pols do in that situation. She can tell from people’s expressions, gestures, and tone of voice that her speech was awful by a measure of biblical proportions.
That morning - although she was 100% responsible for her own problems - she fires five low and mid level people. She lies and spreads rumors about them “undermining” her in various ways and that the speech was just the “final straw of such shameful - truly shameful behavior”. She figures they won’t defend themselves and they won’t speak to the media. And even if they do - they do it anonymously. But that afternoon she gets a shock. Her smack down spectacularly backfires in a Streisand effect fashion. Three of the fired people will appear live together in the studio on CNN that night with their side of the story.
The palace intrigue fire adds to the SOTU shitshow disaster to the point the very next day Kamala totally loses her shit in front of the media. She rants in a drug-fueled rage at them for a full three minutes. One her complains shoots skyward in virality faster than any other. She says “Why is no one loyal to me? I hate disloyal people!” which creates a brand new round of roasting, memes and parodies comparing her to Trump.
I don’t want Trump to win but if Biden wins - we are stuck with that old fuck unless he gets incapacitated or dies. And in that case - we get Kamala. We are fucked all the way down.

I was in grad school during 9/11 and through the invasion of Iraq. In the run up to the war we marched almost every weekend across California. There were tens of thousands of us across the US, and the scale of those global protests paled in comparison to the unprecedented magnitude of the protests happening every week demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
What this administration appears to not understand is that young people do not see a Democrat in power they way the Boomer generation does. They see what we saw 20 years ago: an extremely violent group of war hawks funding a horrific massacre, almost identical to the war on Iraq. Add TikTok to this mix and just forget it: they will simply not vote for what they see. I wouldn’t either if I was 25 today.
The ultimatum from the youth vote is very simple: force a ceasefire in Gaza now, or lose to Trump in November. This was also true a month ago but thanks to Michael Moore and the Uncomitted vote in Michigan, the White House has partially woken up to that reality. But they have very little time left, just like the children of Gaza do. And young people will have no problem whatsoever staying home and watching Biden lose. Biden better wake up to that fact, and quick.
