Whether or not a game streams well in an Actual Play or makes for a good podcast does not necessarily mean that you will enjoy it at the table yourself. While there are some similarities, listening to a game as entertainment is quite a bit different than playing it yourself.

This goes without saying, but I enjoy games with a bit of crunch to the rules. These games don't typically stream well. Other times I am in the mood for a game with a more freeform narrative focus. The latter certainly makes for better passive entertainment.

I am also a big fan of some games that are, quite frankly, a bit of a mess when it comes to their design and would be a nightmare to try and stream. I have a nostalgic link to some and with others I genuinely just like the world building.

The point I am trying to make here is that there seems to be some lines drawn that equate the quality of a show to whether or not you will like the game and a lot of folks seem to run into walls with this approach when reality does not meeting their expectations.

So, try a lot of games. Indie games, established games, new games, old games, games that come in 600 page tomes and games that come on a single piece of paper.

Discover the games that work for YOU. That is all that matters.

Today is a good day to remind all your worldbuilders out there to include irregular holidays, events, and celestial occurrences into your game world. Add a special holiday that sits between months. Put in a week long event that occurs every 7 years, outside the normal calendar.

In the hustle and bustle of the move I forgot to show some of the other special Apocalypse Editions I created for Hopefinder. This one was one of my favorites... My comments on the inside opened with "Did you know you can see the end of the world from space?"

To address extreme leveling of player characters, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:

  • Hardcover Pathfinder Players are limited to 6000 xp/day
  • Pocket Edition Pathfinder Players to 600 xp/day
  • PDF Pathfinder Players to 100 xp/day
