That would be a neat feature. I remember in college which was in the middle of nowhere our professor was trying to promote a bike trail between the two closest towns, because there used to be train tracks going through. Good to get anything, like a recreational path, but I’d prefer transport that serves commuting needs too.
I get that buying bitcoin then trading for monero is time consuming and involves some loss of value in fees. Besides those two real drawbacks, are there others? That method does mostly retain privacy in that someone could see you bought bitcoin, but once converted they don’t know what you did with it.
Certainly face to face transactions seem to introduce more personal risk than a bitcoin to monero online transaction. Cash by mail takes more time. The other methods rely as much on the traditional banking system and trust.
Not saying those aren’t viable options, depending on use case. More I’m just trying to understand what’s out there and their pros/cons.
I would probably take a pt cruiser just because of the reputational risk of driving a cyber truck - that people will think you’re an Elon stan. But purely from a looks perspective I think the cyber truck looks way better.
Taste is subjective so if someone doesn’t like it that’s valid.
For me, designs are successful based on the impression and experience they give people. The cyber truck to me gives off a futuristic vibe, it’s intentional, it’s a design that knows what it wants. Minimal polygons, minimal rounded edges. Uncommon material/finish. Visually striking, unique, memorable.
I think the Aztec isn’t a good design because it wants to be futuristic but doesn’t go far enough. Because it’s trying to retain some traditional elements it looks like design by committee.
My impression is the pt cruiser and SSR were intended to be modern takes on retro/classy designs from say, the 50s. In the sense that they’re curved they succeed, but the curves are in the wrong places and the curve radiuses are wrong. They look bubbly. They look like toys. The effect is amplified because they don’t have a lot of the fine detail that was present on old cars.
To clarify I’m talking about aesthetics. I’m not defending anything safety wise. But that’s an unrelated argument from “it’s ugly”.
It’s clearly an emotionally charged object, which is why in one of my other comments here I said I’d probably accept a pt cruiser instead, just because people make the instant connection between the truck and elon musk.

I do. My parents did a ton of building our house themselves, and my dad also fixed the car all the time including removing and repairing the engine. So I think I get the tendency from seeing that behavior modeled.
Issue is I don’t have the same drive, and realistically I think it’s not entirely healthy because there’s not enough time in the day. It can cause issues when something needs to get done but you won’t pay for it or allow someone else to do it.

Sorry to further bum but this article says his dog was lingering around the neighbors house after the kidnapping so it’s suspected the neighbor killed the dog. It was found poisoned in front of their house.
This article says the only reason the kidnapper’s family member snitched was because of an inheritance dispute.

Commenter in another thread highlighted that people in New Caledonia are French citizens with the right to vote in French elections, and that there have been three referendums in New Caledonia where in each of them a majority voted to stay.
It’s interesting to hear about AI not passing the bar, but otherwise I don’t think the opinion piece is a good take. Complaining that AI isn’t smart enough or pointing out it can’t take people’s jobs yet doesn’t mean it won’t get smarter. And pointing out other technologies that didn’t develop doesn’t mean the same thing will happen here. Remember those news stories about the internet being a fad?
I use chatgpt pretty much every day to help with hobbyist coding. It’s useful to me right now. I expect with time it will continue to grow in usefulness.
I also expect AI will be a vector for spam, propaganda and surveillance. While I may not believe it’s going to become our digital god I do think it’s something people are right to talk about, and game out how we as a society want to handle its impact.
