Olap,

We can, and must, do both. It isn’t an either/or decision here, let’s not frame it as that. That’s right winger thinking. A mix of production the only way to ensure grid stability beyond. If we want to retire coal, stop building insane biomass, reduce gas usage, increase hydrogen production. Then we need nuclear. Storage isn’t projecting to be anywhere close to enough, renewables in the UK are facing a tough challenge offshore currently - leasees are literally handing licenses back, onshore nimbyism is rife, solar installations aren’t ramping up, our housing stock isn’t being insulated at any measureable rate. We need to not only do stuff now and today, we also need that 20 year plan.

Politicians get lots of flack for short term politikalism, but energy security is one of the most important things governments around the world are involved in. Cheaper power is the foundation of our economy, and society. For any government to rule out green, dependable energy sources is akin to tying their feet together, sure you can still jump around - but wouldn’t some room to manuever be nice?

Olap,

I love how he said he didn’t want to big up his brother. Then did exactly that. Off to Minifield this Friday, hoping to show Munster a hard time

Olap,

The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it

Olap,

Local band for me. They kick ass live, bringing the party for sure

Olap,

A monster of a player, he’ll be missed for sure. I think the Lions tour was when his peak was, and what an effort

Olap,

Am I taking crazy pills? Discord and Slack suck just as much imo. They are all a shitty web app repackaged for the desktop. And they are all fine, barely anything to chose betweem them. Teams is probably the best as the calendar integration with outlook and hosting ad-hoc drop in meetings in a room is good, no really, the virtual office is fantastic for pairing and team work.

IM peaked with IRC though, the simplicity was excellent, Matrix the closest thing to it imo. I do wish more stuff integrated with it to offer the same business experience as teams

Olap,

Banned in classrooms is fine imo. They can have them at break and lunch, before and after. Nobody needs to be communicating with anybody all the time. And we have seen time and time again the predatory practices software on these devices. Children are often far better at regulating than we give them credit for, but they are proven to be distracting in classes, we can always bring them back if we think that teaching with them is better!

Olap,

Holyrood unlikely to do anything meaningful. Schools are one of the few devolved powers councils genuinely have. If they are just going to go with Holyrood also, why delay, why not just cancel? Kicking that can a bad look imo

Olap,

Councils don’t create laws

Olap,

Then vote it down, or better yet, don’t table it at all

Olap,

There is shame in claiming that they did it though. It’s called a lie. It others the workers you did pay for. And it denigrates their expertise and experience. Instead say you got someone to do it for you. Or you hired someone. Or you got the experts in. Don’t lie - that’s shameful

Olap,

And yet, you still didn’t lift a hammer or a paint brush, or any tool. The pen and chequebook are not the same, and if you say you did something: you better have actually done more than sign for it in my book. Taking ownership of others’ creations is fine, we aren’t communists, but to deny workers respect shows your snobbery. Be in solidarity with your fellow workers, pay them their worth, champion their abilities, and tell others that you got someone else to do it.

Do not be embarassed by not having the time or expertise to do it, we can’t all know how to do everything. Do not be embarassed by having enough money to pay for someone else to do it, it’s why you have a job also, it’s called the economy. Do not take credit for others’ work.

Olap,

Beyond all Reason in a similar space

Olap,

Great show for you @linzid83 - did you stay up long watching it? Must admit going to bed about half ten, still too light to see anything, but the moon was a corker last night

Olap,

Nerfing the maul I think a good action, it is a big weapon for lots of teams now, and always favours weight over skill. Agreed on the shot clock, no brainer to reducd. Croc roll is a total safety item, seen too many knee injuries on artificial turf with these. Scrum free kick I think is a bit anti-SA, but given they are world number 1 for a reason, I’m OK to see how it goes.

All in all, I’m pretty excited to see next set of internationals

Olap,

Had a bbq the nicht, wedding the morn, Sunday nae plans yet. But bet something turns up. Anyone on Eurovision?

Olap,

A lovely macro shot. Just wi your phone?

Olap,

Honestly surprised at the lack of boos for Israel

Olap,

Really hope they don’t make the final and spoil it

Olap,

2nd half a clear improvement imo. Sadly missing the final live this year
