Hi there, my name is Andy, I'm from Belgium.
I spend most of my free time digitising and restoring classic video game magazines, mostly from the UK.
I've been doing this for nearly 20 years now and I'm here to share my passion for these magazines with others.
I love to read and talk about gaming memories from years gone by.

My main hobbies are gaming, both modern and retro gaming, as well as Japanese, South Korean and classic Hong Kong cinema.

@COMPU73E ah I missed that as I’m at work.
I don’t even mind it being untranslated, I’ll grab it the moment it hits Switch. 😄
Been checking VG+ every day day for the Persona 4 Golden PS4 version as well, but so far, no dice.

Got really lucky and came across these two for €20 each, so I couldn't resist picking them up immediately.

I have to be honest, when the game was first revealed, I was not sure what to think about it.
The story and atmosphere looked amazing, but I was wary of the gameplay elements.

Since then, my tastes in games have widened even further and I fell in love with games like Firewatch and Oxenfree as well as Visual Novels of various kinds, so I'm really looking forward to experience this one when I finally get a PS5. 😊

Now worries. Your English is great! 🙂

Never heard of The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood, so I just looked it up and it looks really interesting.
Just added it to my wishlist on Switch. 😊

Incredibly low price for AI The Somnium Files: nirvana Initiative on Switch.

just €26 on Shopto

While I haven't played this sequel just yet, I loved the original and is one of the few games that I actually completed over the past couple of years.
It starts off feeling quite clumsy, but soon the story and characters draw you right in and before you know, you're hooked.
Brilliant game, and I heard the sequels is even better!

visually look better in motion at higher franerate.

OutofPrintArchive,
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games avatar

@darth
That's one of the things that I only realised when I got my Series X and played a bunch of games that got the fps boost treatment.

Going from 30 to 60 doesn't only feel a lot better, they look so much cleaner and nicer.

So much detail gets lost at lower frame rates as soon as you move the camera.

It's the reason why I'm waiting for the PS5 Pro to release instead of grabbing a regular one right now.

OutofPrintArchive,
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games avatar

@darth
This generation we were lucky, if you could call it that, with all the cross gen titles. Most of those ran at 60 on modern systems but now that more games are targeting current gen only, it’s becoming messy.

OutofPrintArchive,
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games avatar

@darth
No idea as I don’t know what incentives Sony will give them to do this, but I want to believe X-Files theme
But a lot of games have an unlocked framerate it seems so that will certainly help, even without additional patches.

OutofPrintArchive,
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games avatar

@darth
Yeah, a lot try to push visual fidelity over everything else. And I do understand that since it catches people’s attention and created buzz when a game looks heads and shoulders above the rest.
But yeah, I refer performance over visuals, although neither really is a dealbreaker for me when all is said and done.

@GamesMissed it’s really brilliant. A lot more involved than Revenge of the Gator.
I was actually playing Revenge of the Gator last Saturday in the garden as it was suddenly 25C.
We’re back to just 11 now and barely 5 at night so it might be a little while before I get my Game Boy out again. 😅

@Dennis5891 there are still a lot of arcades in Japan but yeah, they are having a rough time.
Most of the big ones are just crane games though.
But there are lots of small retro arcades to be found.

Ever play a game and absolutely love it, but for whatever reason you take a break from it for a couple of days, and then you struggle to get back into it? Happened to me with Unicorn Overlord. I just can't be arsed any more it seems.

I put it on now and within 5 minutes I want to turn it off and play something else. No idea why but I'm just not digging it. I was loving it before!

OutofPrintArchive,
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games avatar

@COMPU73E
Oh absolutely.
After a certain amount of time my mind starts to wander as I want a little variety. I can't play any game all the way through it seem.
Well unless they are shorter experiences like Firewatch, which just took over my world for a couple of evenings.

That's why I have a lot of "break glass in case of emergency" type games that I can always jump into. Mostly arcade type games.

While I let some time pass and let my passion for a certain game bubble back up naturally.

Latest batch of Super Rare Games has arrived. Not the most exciting trio of releases for me personally but I've heard Ship of Fools is fun to play co-op.

@SimonSays
I actually forget what they have released in the past at times.

Last year I saw a particular game in one of those "best underrated indie games" videos that looked amazing. Can't remember what exactly.
But it looked so great that I went and looked if there perhaps was a physical release for it.

It blew my mind when I found Super Rare Games copies on eBay for it, then went looking and it was right there unopened on my shelves as well. 😅

OutofPrintArchive,
@OutofPrintArchive@mstdn.games avatar

@Snozzedandlost @SimonSays I even stopped looking up games until they are delivered.
I’m just going “oh, a new triple pack? Let me grab that!” 😅
