PeterLinuxer,

MMIX is created by Prof. Knuth purely for expressing his algorithms. Back then C++ and Java were the latest, hottest sh… (and would soon be outdated themselves). Prof. Knuth didn’t like C++ and general programming language fashion. So he invented MMIX. It was never meant to be implemented in real HW.

I don’t know whst’s wrong with the other CPU architectures you listed. I especially wonder why Sparc wasn’t used more.

PeterLinuxer,

I don’t know of an industry company who builds truely libre hardware. Only half-libre if you are willing to call it so.

Which region are you willing to work in?

How feesible is it to create a fully libre CPU?

I am referring to both the design, and the independent, and auditable manufacture of the CPU. It should be noted that such a CPU needn’t fully compete with modern ARM, Intel, AMD, etc. CPUs, but it would be an incredible boon to have a fully trustworthy piece of hardware, even if it is considerably lower in it’s strength....

PeterLinuxer,

Windows -> GNU/Linux

KDE/Gnome -> JWM

TV -> Reading books

Twitter -> Fediverse

Coke/Cola -> Tea/infusion

Amazon -> Local bookshop

PeterLinuxer,

I like the diagram/picture with the two ladders.

PeterLinuxer,

As @sexy_peach said, there is "Last Generation" here in Germany, too. And as you said about Italy, here they are doing more harm than good for climate protection. People who are already convinced that we need urgent climate action like the last generation. But they don't need to be convinced because they already are. And the people who are not fully convinced, they get very angry about the climate movement. In Berlin an ambulance on duty was hindered by the "Klimakleber" (climate gluers) who glue their hand to the street.

PeterLinuxer,

"100% have ignored" Yeah sure, then you don't read newspapers. It is not ignored.

PeterLinuxer,

Hehe, ok. I think it is not done enough to stop global warming. Maybe my writing "It is not ignored" gave such a wrong impression. But we have a climate initiative in my town's politics, including the mayor. We have newspaper articles about climate change, and I don't mean about the "Last generation". We have the city's supplier for energy, busses, water etc. doing climate actions.

Edit: We have a climate protection minister. So it is NOT ignored.

PeterLinuxer,

We do have the green "taz" newspaper in Germany. But the mainstream media, especially the "Bild", do indeed a bad propaganda to the masses. I don't like general cop-bashing and such but I feel the urge to vomit when the politicians talk about economic growth. Or when our chancellor says we can't save the climate with abstinence/refraining ("Verzicht"). In contrast I think we can't save the climate WITHOUT abstinence/refraining!

PeterLinuxer,

I've read about producing packaging and items from funghi (mycels). Maybe that is an alternative?

PeterLinuxer,

It costs more than plastics. So the politics are on duty here.

If I may link to the company here: https://www.ecovative.com/

PeterLinuxer,

Dell and Ikea have already used it. :)

PeterLinuxer,

I don’t think you need a particular order.
