Part of me wants to argue that the games industry has a long-standing history of under-compensating workers, which makes being within the top 25% not particularly impressive, but instead I’m just going to admit that you caught me ragging on EA with an easy jab.
They did lay off a shed load of workers earlier this year mere days after announcing record profits though. Still, they’re not quite the miserable black hole that they were in the ‘EA Widows’ era when they were forcing unpaid overtime on a straight up illegal level.
Strange New Worlds has been my favorite Trek since Next Generation, and if the quality continues, could easily be my favorite Trek ever. But with the e.p. wishing for more episodes per season, there’s a danger of diluting the show by adding weak episodes that would have never made it in a 10 episode season....
Honestly, I think SNW is in a pretty decent position for a larger episode order. Heck, having more episodes to create more space between TOS character guest appearances would probably do the series good.
The past few Titan Quest DLCs were made by Pieces Interactive who are currently working on yet another Alone in the Dark remake. Titan Quest II is being made by Grimlore Games, who made the Spellforce 3 trilogy of RTS/RPG hybrids.
Not sure how much of an improvement that is, but it’s not quite the worst-case scenario. So that’s nice.
At some point in this millenium, it became ubiquitous in games to ask for a button press before switching to the main menu and it has become a pet peeve off mine....
They’re not particularly old. There’s a few games as recent as this year there. But then, can you really trust the quality of a list that includes ‘Laura’ (sic) Croft?
What platforms do you play, and how old is she? Because there’s no point in us recommending particularly grisly PS exclusives like The Last of Us Part 2 if you’re an Xbox player with a 6 year old.
It has some mild horror elements and I believe Maddy mentions getting drunk to deal with her problems at one point which is what gets it a higher rating than you’d expect. It’s absolutely a great game to play with her, though as it’s a brilliant game that deals with themes of self-acceptance and perseverance!
Spiritfarer is utterly excellent but also extremely sad (the entire game is a hospice care allegory), so if you go into that one keep in mind that at least one of you will probably be crying your eyes out at some point.
I was born in 1989, so I grew up with the TNG era and ENT, and I always dismissed TOS as a kid as the cheesy 60s original version that TNG remade and left in the dust. It wasn’t until high school that I actually sat down and watched TOS and fell in love with it. I even now wonder if Kirk is better than Picard, it’s a debate...
Folks tend to say that Kirk is too much of a cowboy, but that’s not really who he is. He’s very much invested in the rules and hierarchy of Starfleet, but he’s also driven by a sense of justice.

The fact that Stray and Stray Gods are coming out on the same day is causing my head to keep singing ‘Stray Stray Gods’ to the tune of Red Red Wine at me.
If I buy the extra pack to get earlier access and the expansion pack, and then at some point let my gamepass expire, do I still have to purchase the full game? Or will I get a difference in value?
I think the most common answer is going to be Tears of the Kingdom, and that is one for me that stands out for sure, but I will try to add some more unique inputs as well. Many are games that came out longer than a year ago, but i didnt get around to playing until more recently....
At the beginning, there was the theme of “connecting,” and after that, I made a lot of notes about character settings, game ideas, and so on. Like how to connect it. They’re good at doing this. And by good, I mean it keeps happening and I can only assume there’s something in the backend that keeps leaking messages like this and they’ve never been able to find and fix it.
I.e., games that hooked you in and you couldn't stop playing until it was finished. Not games that just happened to be unexpectedly short. And by "completed" I guess I mean the main story etc, not 100%ing the game :)....
Because it’s a game that’s constantly telling the player that they should stop playing it. That everything is going to get worse if you do and it’s all your fault. That you’re going to cross the line again and again and again until every single person in the game is doomed. And then we play through the entire thing anyway, because it’s so fucking good.
recent: tears of the kingdom, or as i like to call it botw 1.2, its the same thing all over again just with one or two added gimicks, the open world is dead, npcs are boring and nintendo just got away with it like that...
You’d think we’d have perfected an onboarding tutorial for this kind of game by now, but they always seem to either not tell you anywhere near enough to actually play the game, or intimidate you with so much detail that you lose focus. It’s unfortunate.

Titan Quest II | Announcement Trailer (www.youtube.com)
I was NOT expecting them to make a sequel to this game. It’s been over 15 years, hasn’t it?
I don't want to "Press any key to continue" to the main menu

2023 might be the best year for sequels and worst for new IPs
It’s a really weird, happy and sad state of affairs....
Looking for games with strong female leads for my daughter (even just to watch as I play). Came across this link, but they're a bit age-inappropriate. Any suggestions from the community? (gameranx.com)
Edit: Daughter is only 5 so she’s unlikely to play much but she watches me and as long as it’s not too violent, it should be fine
Did anyone else dislike TOS in their youth but came around to it when they got older?
