I've been trying to solve a problem with my arch (endeavour) instalation and wanted to know if anyone here can help
Everything is working well, excepting the WiFi connection. It is extremely slow, sometimes disconnecting from the network, and in the task bar, the WiFi icon shows that the signal strength is weak, although the router is in the same room. Switching between r8168 and r8169 as recommended doesnt work. Any ideas?
I forgot Flipboard existed: I think I tried it out on my phone years ago and it seemed like kind of a meh news aggregator. Has it gotten any better recently?
For me, it's a bidet toilet seat. I bought one that didn't really fit as well as I hoped, so now I am shopping for a v2 based on experience. I don't want to live without one going forward. That's for sure.
What are some tips for dealing with solicitors (door-to-door salespeople)? Our neighborhood gets a lot of them.
We have a “No solicitors” sign hanging on the front door. Nevertheless, they knock, ring the doorbell, or worse, yell through the front window when it is open, trying to get our attention.
We have a Ring video doorbell and have enabled the automatic “Sorry, we’re not interested” announcement after 15 seconds. These pushy SOBs ignore the sign and the announcement.
When I ultimately find out they are soliciting and I ask why they ignored both the sign and the doorbell announcement, they usually say something like, “I’m not selling anything. I am just working with some people in the neighborhood…” or some such BS.
My wife and I work from home and have had to explain the window shouting to coworkers in meetings. We also have two small children who could be trying to nap at any given time. We have good reasons to not want to be disturbed at home and these assholes disregard that wish.
I will write a negative review online if I find out their name and company they are representing. Any other ways to get these people to leave us alone?
Will something be done about moderators owning 50+ magazines/communities and counting? Already seeing power mods migrate from Reddit trying to hoard as many communities as possible.
The fediverse kind of inherently limits this: You can make the same community on another Lemmy or a similar community on the same Lemmy.
If communities want to relocate to here, I see no problem with that and if the mods suck then folks can always jump ship to a new community.
Realistically, there's no good way to stop a person from running multiple communities and frankly, I don't think it would be a good idea to do that anyways.
Tells me they like modding and are likely pretty OK at it? Some of them definitely suck and abuse their power, but just because someone mods a lot of communities doesn't mean they're a bad mod or shouldn't be a mod.
I've created some communities that got pretty big and are still around even though I am no longer modding and I can tell you this: Modding is a shitty, thankless, unpaid job.
Yeah, I do think people will move communities. This happened all the time on reddit when a mod or mods were being terrible and it's even easier to do on Lemmy, so that is very likely to happen.
