ICYMI This past week on the Active Towns Channel featured fascinating conversations with two female non-drivers, Anna Zivarts and Kristin Fehrman, who are seriously rocking their car-free lifestyles. I also posted a relaxing video montage of previously unreleased Utrecht b-roll https://www.youtube.com/@ActiveTowns
YAY! NEW CHANNEL MILESTONE! I just noticed a new notification from YouTube that the Active Towns Channel had eclipsed 1,000,000 views (actually, when I looked more closely, it was precisely 1,001,101). Wow! I'm blown away. Thank you all so much for watching. Click to subscribe👇 https://bit.ly/Subscribe2ActiveTowns
ICYMI: Yesterday, I released this video documenting an encouraging transformation taking place here in Austin. Excess space in the roadway that encouraged faster, more reckless driving was first narrowed through the use of flex posts and then later formalized in concrete. 🙌 https://youtu.be/lZ_-_-nyjZI
@mmb@activetowns Yes, I frequently see wide cargo bikes roll thru here… hmmm, I haven’t seen any cargo trikes in this neighborhood but I have in the Mueller community - see my videos profiling that Austin community on the Channel - similar dimensions
FLASHBACK FRIDAY FILM One year ago today, I shot this shortie to highlight the best ways to get to the @aclfestival in Austin, TX, at Zilker Park. And as a bonus this year for the music festival attendees, Barton Springs Road is now safer & more inviting https://youtu.be/uW4dEp4HoqA
And if you'd like to see those BSR safety enhancements, here is my video highlighting how a person riding a bike from the Barton Hills neighborhood can access the pool, park and BSR businesses: https://youtu.be/kC0kKmhEgEo
I've long been a fan of the Daily Stoic and all of Ryan Holiday's writings. Personally, I strive to live an authentic life and run the Active Towns Initiative based on the four virtues of stoicism: Wisdom, Temperance/Discipline, Courage and Justice. Thanks, Ryan, for this important post today. So many people have no clue that nearly 115+ people die, and thousands are seriously injured on our roadways each day in the United States. 👇
I produced this #short from my ride-along, on-bike interview with CU Denver's Professor Wes Marshall; we are talking about slow street designs in this clip. Full video link in the 🧵below https://youtube.com/shorts/P6n0Iwsrogk
@enobacon no, in general the drivers remain patient and courteous. 😀 The larger cars, trucks, and SUVs are becoming an issue and in the areas where they are allowed is decreasing with each passing day.
