Doesn’t the Mint software center prompt for an admin authentication if you install a .deb package?

If so, an immutable OS like Silverblue would be technically more simple, seeing as flatpak installation doesn’t require sudo.

For some reason, there are handful of tinfoil-hatters in this specific community who have been convinced that lemmy.world admins went to a clandestine meeting with Meta where bags of gold and hookers were handed out in exchange for selling out to Threads.

Solus interests me, but it was pretty much dead for a good while until very recently. I still think it’s best to wait another 6-12 months to ensure that they succeed in regularly keeping everything updated before recommending it to people.

That same problem has happened twice with Solus though - Ikey’s abrupt departure being the first.

I hope that this time the structural changes will ensure they sail on a even keel for a good while, but I remain wary.
