Back button on browser goes back two pages

Browsing lemmy.world in a browser. I am on page 3 of my feed. I open a post, read it, and press the back button on the browser to return where I left off in the feed. However, instead of taking me back to where I was on page 3, the back button takes me somewhere on page 2. So Everytime I want to go back to the main feed from a...

Yeah that’s a known issue in Lemmy. Should be fixed in v0.19

How did Lemmy World become the default instance?

World was already the biggest by far when I first started lurking back in July, and it’s just getting more dominant. Before, there was quite some diversity in the distribution of generic communities, but nowadays the vast majority of posts that reach the top are from over there....

We couldn’t handle the ddos at times, the influx was never the problem. Every time that did become a problem we upgraded the hardware.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

*allegedly

We are not sure who was behind the ddos. It could have been that guy or it could have been users from exploding-heads.com because we defederated with them.

Or it could just as well have been an admins from another instance that didn’t like LW was the biggest instance.

The only thing that was sure was that they knew very well how Lemmy worked and which actions caused the heaviest load on the server.

No this had nothing to do with Hexbear

We do not make up for 50% of the active users. Also we have plenty of moderators and admins, reports get handled pretty fast. It’s up to the community moderators first but if it takes too long one of the admins will step in.

And we will never close registrations.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

It’s one of the reasons why we set the default to ‘all’ instead of ‘local’ on LW

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

Ok just want to make it clear that we never suspected Hexbear to be involved. This started before we defederated with them.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

What shithole?

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

Lemmy World defederated as soon as we became aware of this instance.

It is created by @rglullis who said this was something requested by many but we really didn’t see the advantage of it.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

Which we did at LW. They started spamming some communities with this and we defederated.

He is not simping, it’s his instance so ofcourse he is giving his POV

@antik@lemmy.world avatar

You can disable bot accounts in your settings so at least those don’t show up in your feed.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, understandable. On Lemmy World we defederate with those kind of instances because we know most of our users don’t want that stuff.

Luckily the next version of Lemmy is around the corner and then you should be able to block those instances yourself.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

Or went with the “just go to lemmy.world” approach, got burned because it was struggling to deal with the influx of people and thought “Aw, Lemmy sucks”.

How many times have I personally explained to you that it was the ddos not the influx of people. Every time you find some way to bash on LW and then you come ask for favors?

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

How about no?

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

Didn’t you ask us to make an exception for your bots when we defederated with alien.top almost two months ago? Special treatment AKA a favor, yes.

Anyway you are always arguing in bad faith, just like when you were trying to spread the message that Lemmy World is too big and bad for the fediverse. It wasn’t for the fediverse, it was to push people to your (failing) hosting company. And you are still pushing that same narrative and play dumb when confronted.

Be transparent he says.

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

If you call this thread a success you are delusional. You’re condescending to everyone that doesn’t agree with your viewpoints. Which isn’t really new to me

antik,
@antik@lemmy.world avatar

No, there is no such option. Everything you post will be federated to other instances.

Requesting community !cultofthelamb

The creator hasn’t been online since creating their account 5 months ago, and there are literally zero posts, not even a greeting or banner - it’s a blank site that was created and then immediatly abandoned. I would like to give that community a second chance and update, rules, banner, icon and last but not least some actual...

antik,

I purged the community, you can create it again.

Nothing is happening on alien.top. Set if to ‘local’ and ‘comments’ and there is a handful of comments from the last hour and before that it was 13 days ago
