arya48,

In previous episodes it seemed like Shuro’s servants were happy and willing but this episode shows that maybe that’s not the case. Izutsumi seems to have been forced into servitude, her body modified and weaponized against her will. Certainly doesn’t help improve my opinion of Shuro to realize he’s a slave owner.

As I expected Senshi’s cooking comes to rescue and helps mellow out our new cat friend ( ^▽^)

The dream rescue was pretty cool, Marcille remembering Laios as a friendly fluffy dog is so cute lol.

arya48,

Do they ever explore that in the future or is it just for flavor? Always puts me off a little when shows introduce such heavy subjects and then don’t really touch on them.

arya48,

I see, sounds good. Hope our main party have some opinions on it, Laios believed Shuro to be his bff so I wonder how he’d feel about him after learning more about Izutsumi. Regardless, I hope the show is not neutral about it like so many animes these days are. Thanks for all the lore, helps expand my understanding of the story and characters.

arya48,

Maizuru kinda sounds like Vivienne from dragon age… I hate that character lol. I don’t know if I agree with Kubro not being responsible, he did leave Izutsumi behind knowing full well what’ll happen to her. He’s not a sheltered child anymore, he’s an experienced adventurer, he’s seen what the world is like and has enough experience to be able to understand that his slaves are people, not property. A friendly slaver is still a slaver after all.

Anyways, from what I gather the story won’t focus on Shuro or his family much so not much point speculating what he feels or thinks about this subject, or what he might do in the future.

arya48,

I see, I assumed he was experienced based on what’s presented in the show so far, thanks for additional info.

I understand how he is the way he is and why that’s interesting but yeah, still don’t like him, maybe my opinion will change in the future.

And yeah, totally agree, Falin is too nice to be with him.

arya48,

I don’t know, if that were the case it would’ve been shown I think, considering the curse placed on her Shuro would’ve said something about that if he was concerned. Marcille explains that separating souls is kinda impossible even for a mage of her caliber, I don’t think Shuro would’ve assumed that she could do it.

arya48,

The spell Maizuru used to keep track of Izu may not actually be lethal. She used to use the exact same spell to keep Shuro from running off as a child, so it might be that all it does is scare the subject.

It definitely seemed lethal with the way it was using that knife, probably a modified version of the same spell that she used for Shuro, I think.

Izu wants her curse broken, but it wasn’t placed on her by the Nakamotos.

I see, probably from some dealer who sells “exotic” slaves, yuck (._.)

arya48,

Yeah that definitely sounds like it’s not lethal. Guess izutsumi didn’t know.

arya48,

The whole sequence of Laios jumping at the mimic, the dramatic cuts to Senshi and Chilchuck’s faces to Marcille just casually blowing up the mimic was so funny, I had to rewind and watch it again. This episode felt more lax and fun like older episodes, enjoyed it very much.

I’ve seen people say how Kabru is the invert of Laios, he’s the people expert while Laios is the monster expert, but this episode showed how Laios is plenty good at people too when he feels like it.

Excited to meet the new member, she doesn’t seem the most friendly but Senshi’s cooking will remedy that before long I’m sure. I was half expecting the mimic to be the new party member until Marcille blew the poor puppy’s head clean off, RIP (._.)

arya48,

Yeah fluffy puppy, I hate watching doggies die >.> understandable though, Senshi probably butchered and kept a bunch of parts from the mimic like he does with all the monsters they kill for future meals.

I’m very curious about the new member, but yeah, no spoilers!

arya48,

Thank you! I’ll check out the communities you suggested.

arya48,

I like it more than Last of Us personally.

arya48, (edited )

It always surprises me whenever the shows goes from comfy fun adventuring to talking about laws and stuff, I never expect it and then get slapped with oddly grounded world of this show, characters have to combat with responsibilities of being an adult and the laws and prejudices of the society. I didn’t even consider the possibility of the black magic being something that can get you a life sentence.

Also obligatory fuck Kabru, all my homies hate Kabru (`皿´)

arya48,

I see, I’ll have to check last week’s episode, completely forgot what Chilchuck said. Thanks for the info, will all this be covered in future episodes?

arya48,

Thanks! I’ll look through your posts.

arya48,

You know when they said they were gonna go back to the surface I thought it would be a quick trip to the top and then back down again lol. Things just keep going from bad to worse for our poor adventures.

arya48,

That’s not really the only reason, Bayonetta is a genuinely good character, a lot of people consider her a feminist icon because of the way she is presented. The Twitter weirdos just aren’t capable of seeing much beyond the surface level.

arya48,

That was wild omg! I have never been too into x-men but I’ve started reading their comics now because of this show, gonna have to check which stories this episode pulled from.

The way they handled Gambit-Rogue-Magneto triangle was so much better than what I expected. Gambit expressing to rogue how he felt without getting angry and understanding why she felt that way for Magneto, which made his death so much more tragic considering he never found out that Rogue ended up turning down Magneto. So well done. This episode was full of really strong, well written moments. Magneto saving that kid, Madelyne meeting Cable, Scott finally cracking, Wolverine telling Jean to go talk to Scott, all of that in such a short runtime and none of it felt unearned. I hope they handle the Scott-Jean-Madelyne stuff as well as they have Rogue stuff. Also Beast blushing was precious lol, really fantastic episode!

arya48,

Kinda just echoing what everyone else is saying, I really don’t like Kabru’s party lol, none of them pass the vibe check for me, Kabru is such a narcissist, he truly believes himself to be the protagonists of this world and his party seem completely bought into his delusion. He seems very observant but also draws the most cynical conclusions from his observations.

I am also slightly bummed that it seems we’ll be getting more of dealing with these guys instead of pursuing Falin and solving that mystery. Maybe I’ll grow to like these new characters or appreciate them at least, I trust the show enough to trust that whatever happens next will be interesting and make for an engaging watch.

arya48,

Also, can you imagine how satisfying it’s going to be, if Kabru figures iut that the Toudens aren’t some malicious self-centred schemers (like he is and therefore seems to think they must be) and are in fact just weird but wonderful people?! 🤣

That would be so cathartic, I hope we get a moment like that.

This is such a meme-able image lol “you hearin this shit Doggy#2? Yeah I hear it Doggy#1”

I’m sure I’ll eventually grow to like the new elf mage but OMG I hated him so much in this episode! Such an ass! ( `ー´)

From what I can gather, red dragon was commanded by the mage to find the king, but it looks like the king has been dead forever. The mage seems obsessively attached to the king and that’s why he spends all his time in the paintings reliving the past 🤔.

Didn’t expect them to actually go back to the surface, wonder how long it’ll be before they’ll get back this deep and meet Falin again.

arya48,

Good observation! I didn’t make the lifespan connection at all.
