I feel very seen today. If that makes sense.😂Getting some interaction feels nice. Thank you nice Threads people. Threads and other social media platforms like Flipboard and Mastodon are doing great work to start making these platforms interconnected in a way while letting people feel safe while doing so. It's very admirable and the future of social media is VERY exciting! I hope to eventually see a decent number of you on the Fediverse! Fediverse Threads

This is HUGE! Ryan Barrett, a talented dev, has just launched the BlueSky-Fediverse bridge known as Bridgy Fed!

This allows users on Fediverse (mastodon and other platforms besides threads, for now) and BlueSky to opt-in to have their posts shared cross-platform!

This is just another massive achievement for the future of social media! Hopefully once Threads fully integrates the Fediverse, this will possibly bridge Threads too! 🥳🥳🥳Fediverse is the future of social media!

Just to add on. This means that non Threads Fediverse users are now the only ones who can follow users from both Threads AND BlueSky! The future is NOW! Turn on Fediverse beta or get left behind!

There it is...the dark pattern at work already....yep. this Fediverse integration is losing me🤦‍♂️this is how you lose trust guys....this is how you get blocked by 80% of Fedi, even if you have good intentions because this is shady as hell...please fix this before it gets any worse. You're killing the feature before it launches.🤬

The dark pattern is simply making users second guess Fediverse integration. I don't see how the dialog box ya'll have added serves any purpose besides to ask users to turn it off, without using that language. It seems very "in bad faith" because you don't have a dialog box that automatically pops up asking users that don't have it on to try it...😬

right. You're purposefully misconstruing dark patterns. Dark patterns shine light on the bad without shining light on the good. Hence the word dark pattern.😬🤷‍♂️we'll wait and see, but my hopefullness has been pretty much killed in one day.

So, @mosseri @pcottle, I have a Fediverse question. I have my own instance that has already been reviewed and approved for federation (https://social.beaware.live) but, I am coming to realize that Mastodon moderation features aren't up to my standard so I'm thinking about migrating to Sharkey, possibly on a different domain. My question is, if I migrate and make a new instance with Sharkey, is there something I have to do to get re-reviewed and approved again for federation?

Oh, great! The reason for the confusion is because on Fediverse I saw @pcottle interacting with another admin about a "re-review" so I probably just misunderstood the process. Thanks for the reply🙏👍

People should turn on fediverse sharing! Go to settings > Account > Fediverse if you're in the US/Canada/Japan! There's 15 million users there and I'm sure at least some of them would love to see your content!

This place is definitely reinforcing why I love Fediverse so much....

I get no engagement here outside of my followers or people I directly interact with first.

Algorithms that you have to "game" are the worst and why fediverse services are better for actual interaction. I wish threads would have actually done it correctly so people wouldn't be so confused and think it's "useless".🤦‍♂️

Just like with all things that are absolutely normal, there's a LARGE group on Fedi that absolutely despises it.

Though, they despise everything they don't understand. In this case, they don't understand that they can mind their own business about who I federate with or not. There's a group called "fedipact" which is against federating with Threads and anyone who federates with them...🤦‍♂️

Just gave mastadon onboarding another try and really enjoyed setting up an account with Mammoth (moth.social on the fediverse).

I think it behooves us all to have a few irons on the stove (wow I sound like an ancient human!) to keep all the new text based social media platforms honest (ok I saved myself from being grandpa with second half of that sentence)
