One thing that occurred to me is that the trans representation is not something you normally get to see in film/tv. Normally/recently all you really see is young, very fem, and rich enough to get any work done.

It was kind of refreshing to see a community with a bunch of people who look a little more mixed. And that community has joy, is engaged, and supports eachother. Seemed more real.

I haven’t looked into who the actors are, so I’m afraid to find out if it was cis playing trans. But I really liked it at first glance.

I had heard there was studio tampering with the film. They hue shifted the orange flags to red. But if that’s true, it’s funny because the message is still obviously, “the leaders of the BJP must be violently dealt with by those they oppress.”

Also, if it’s true, there’s also malicious compliance because only foreground flags are shifted. The orange clothes and background flags remain orange.

Edit: I realized that I didn’t comment on anything but the politics. But the structure is really satisfying too.

It ends like John Wick or something, but the first third you’re dropped into a situation that you have to slowly put together. Meanwhile the protag has been setting up to strike the whole time.

It’s just a really good way to set up an action flick, imo. It makes the middle really pop. And the Hanuman framing is like icing that holds it all together in a cool way.

I’m slightly surprised the court isn’t also running cover for Israel. Is anyone here familiar enough with this to explain why not?

I don’t really believe in objective courts generally. Is there some difference here? Are they not subject to bullying from the same countries that mess with other international institutions?

Yeah. I’m seeing this too in r/israel. It seems like the long term plan is to lay this all at the feet of Ben Gvir and say Netanyahu is blameless.

At best we’ll see Netanyahu thrown under the bus too, and put in a 99% Hitler instead. I don’t really think this will be an offramp from Israel support generally.

These people are so funny, and have been around forever. They spend time customizing their filters to only block certain kinds of ads, or not blocking on sites they like. I can’t imagine.

All so they can “support the site” by being subjected to ads for hard lemonade.

Yeah, I feel like “libertarian” is just vibes-based for dudes of a certain age, and not really an ideology. Like “centrist” it’s a way of signalling to each other that they stand above politics, and don’t get involved in the petty bickering of people who care about things.

When the rubber hits the road, and they start interacting with the world, they’ll settle into their actual politics. Usually it’ll break toward resentment-based fashy stuff, like “centrists,” because the vibe coming from a place of “I’m better than that,” to begin with. But it can go the other way too if it’s coming from where you were at, or if they start being personally affected/targeted by their allies.
