Many people call it "AI" but what they've created so far are machine learning models to generate images/videos/sounds/etc and LLMs to generate text responses that the model thinks that will look correct to humans.
There is no "Intelligence" involved, just trained models generating outputs. We are nowhere near close to actual AI (which would be called AGI or Artificial General Intelligence)
So basically "AI" is just another techbro buzzword at the moment
