RT @travis_robert: You ever think about how completely unstoppable New York State would be if we zeroed out our highway-widening budget moving forward and used that $ instead to build 2-3 metro lines each in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany — and connected all of them to NYC via 200mph rail?

RT @bdhowald At Bk. CB2 meeting, Borough President Reynoso answered a question from a member about progress on daylighting:

“We’re set to implement daylighting over 20 years. That’s totally unacceptable. Too often in this city, we make a crisis out of nothing, and do nothing in the face of crises.”

RT @alexfromnj There is no world in which a transit agency can identify $600m in cuts without it resulting in worse service for riders.

For context, $600m = about 1/5 of NJ Transit's annual budget.

Imagine 20% fewer trains and buses.

Will the NYC DOT cut parking meter times and raise rates?

"What makes the most clogged piece of Tremont Avenue such a challenge is that the blocks where bus speeds are so low, the street is just 50 feet wide. …

"Any traffic will grind a bus to a halt, because the bus has nowhere else to go. Further complicating matters, the commercial stretch between Jerome and Clinton avenues has metered parking that last for up to two hours, which leads to little turnover."

RT @civic_grit The section of I-95 from Center City to South Philly was meant to bolster Philadelphia's docks and industry. That did not succeed.

Returning this land to Philly would save 100s of millions of $ in maintenance and would generate similar amounts in prop. tax on the reclaimed land.
