From the moment I woke up on the second day of my short hiking trip it was raining until I got home. While I never like breaking down a tent in the rain, walking in the rain was actually kind of nice. Especially early in the morning, as there was a lot of mist the forest almost had a mystical feel to it.

On our fourth hike in Germany we visited the Wartburg. While the outside was nice, the inside was truely unexpected.

An elevated part of a room, looking somewhat like a stage. At the front of the stages are pillars, creating three arcs through which you can see the richly decorated backwall which has three long columns of writing on it. On both sides of the stage are benches against the wall. The front of the stage and the pillars are also richly decorates with geometric patterns and figures from nature.
Looking around a grey wall a grey gargoyle can be seen sitting on a downward sloping wall. Behind it the wall is painted orange to the left and green to the right and decorated with figures from nature.

On day 2 of our Germany trip we took the Kirnitzschtal tramway from Bad Schandau to the Lichtenhain Waterfall, where we started our hike. It was a lovely way to start the day, especially since the cars in use are historic.

My first attempt at making a plushie, as a gift for my my niece. Initially I had much more ambitious (and unrealistic) plans but it ended up looking a bit like a pillow with legs. I'm still quite happy with the result though!
