@lanodan From a protocol standpoint I am not actually sure about a lot of what ATproto is promising. Like, they're saying that your profile is transferable even if a PDS ("instance") is down, but they say in the white paper that's only if you take regular backups... which I doubt many users will do...
Currently the community is basically twitter-ish but without a ton of artists regularly posting, so it's boring unless you like seeing hairy balls and US politics, in which case the main feed is great for you.
@cell The only ones I can remember are where people actually cite their sources, which was rare in the forum era, and even rarer in the microblogging era.
