labor-wise, the beautiful thing about management’s alienation from the work they manage, is that in most cases you can just cut them out and replace management with the union. they are like an oil-slick upon the tides of our efforts, and they can be washed away.

i was trying to describe this to my therapist, but it seems insane. i remember a time and place where things… work differently; in brief, humanely. but in this reality not only is that world genuinely unimaginable to most, they have been robbed of any cultural memory of alternatives. people live like lab rats, drinking from a tube and shitting in bark chips, experimented on, used, killed, and it just doesn’t register for them, as though the cage altogether were some eternal destiny.

it’s not like i remember being a field rat. i remember a time where the cage never existed, where civilization is something we do for each other thoughtfully and compassionately. we abolished artificial scarcity and institutional brutality alike through force of collective will, not through any magic or invention but because such things are self-evident madness. we mulch rapists and slavery is fucking unthinkable. we do better for each other than this because why wouldn’t we?

honestly i have started to think “mulch rapists” is actually a pretty key point. i feel like modern evil is faustian, the work of those scared to death of accountability, because honestly accountability would and should kill them. so, out of a rabid sense of self-preservation, they march deeper and deeper into cruelty, and they raise children to be cruel so they make the same bargains, carry the same evil unquestioningly, until they too enact atrocity out of blind terror.

idk man. i don’t know what causes someone like elon musk or peter thiel to exist, but they aren’t self-made. something wove their ilk from a tapestry of millennia of malice. i take solace in this: that even death-gods like theirs can be killed. no fleshless giant is beyond oblivion’s reach; fern and flower alike spring serene from the rapist’s rotting corpse.
