I recently experienced a Steam account breach from CN. That after I have 2FA on my account and changed my email and password not long ago. This person got through to my account, luckily not changing any security settings like email, password or removed my 2FA. He/she just breached, installed Rust, got me a VAC ban on my account. I contacted the dev, they can’t do anything. Left an appeal with Easy Anti-Cheat and still waiting. I’m now thinking twice before buying anything on the Steam platform.
Just to clarify. They installed Rust on their computer. Not mine.
It happened in the time when my computer was off and could not even turn it on because of loadshedding. (if you don't know what this is by now, you need to get out under the rock)
Steam should really sharpen their security on their platform. I have over 500 games on the platform and wouldn’t like to lose any of them, receive any more VAC bans or have my entire Steam account banned just because Steam security is shit.
The lack of proper Steam support is also mind boggeling. I tried contacting them via the Rust support page, but its so bad, you can not get hold of any person. Googling a bit I found that Steam says that each person on the platform is responasble for teir own account security. There is just this much you can secure on the platform. 2FA, email and password. Than they give you backup codes in case you lose access. I am just more worried of getting my entire account banned because of some asshole.
I saw Age of Wonders 4 Premium is R1599 (ZAR) on Xbox. Went to a site like Gamivo, did some calculations and they sell the Argentinian version for R220 (ZAR) You can buy it and activate it on Xbox via VPN. What I am getting at is.. With all this AI and stuff its just strange that you can activate via VPN and that Xbox havnt locked it by bypassing VPN IPs to see where you are actually from. Argentina games are also way cheaper than the rest of the world. I am just curious to why it is like that?
