I’ve been a much heavier iPad user since getting the Mini. As such, I actually have an iPadOS wishlist for WWDC 2023:

  • Please for the love of god fix the Home Screen so icons don’t jump around when I switch from portrait to landscape (or vice versa)

That’s literally all I want from iPadOS 17 and I have a feeling I’ll be disappointed 😂

Dungeons and Dragons, while not perfect, was actually very refreshing. So many big budget movies leave things hanging for a sequel and often feel incomplete.

I really appreciate that they were able to do that. The whole “every big movie needs to be a franchise” thing has been exhausting for a while.

I have a question for the old school Mac developers:

Back in the day when skeumorphism was still a thing, how would you accomplish, for example, a leather background? Was there something like a view modifier with an enum like [.brushedMetal, .leather, .felt, etc.]?

I’ve been thinking about this for days

@davidbures Not an old school Mac developer but I did mess with building a custom theme circa 2008 with Leopard.

I think that predates all the leather and felt, but I do know brushed metal and the smooth gradient (forget what it was called) were window styles the developer could chose from.

As far as actual implementation, I have no idea but I can’t imagine you’re far off as far as brushed metal is concerned at least.

Tonight's movie night movie is already decided: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

The trailer looks totally fun and I haven't heard a bad thing about it. My wife has played D&D before, but none of the rest of have although we've dabbled in adjacent things (some other simpler RPG systems and Magic: The Gathering, etc.).

@atpfm Your discussion on SwiftUI this week has made me feel a lot better about the struggles I’ve been facing trying to build my first app.

Also I didn’t know .searchable was a thing until listening to @caseyliss discuss his issues with it so now I can throw out my crappy custom search box.

Of course, now I need to figure out how to replace the SF Symbols magnifying glass with one that matches the rest of the icons in my app 😂

I’ve seen Empire Strikes Back more times than I can count and I have no recollection of the 3rd AT-AT being in this shot. I thought maybe it was added for the 4K release but no here it is in a clip from an original 16mm print I found on YouTube.

My theory is that it was probably pan-and-scanned out of the VHS release from the 90s that I practically wore out as a kid so it’s not seared into my brain.

Though I’ve been doing the whole #buildinginpublic thing for several weeks now, I’m finally at a spot where I can officially announce QuestLogger, an app for managing your video game collection and backlog.

Right now I’ve got my sights set on a 1.0 release in the summer. My goal is to launch with #iphone support and then add #ipad support later.
