I spent today going through a WordPress website that was built using the Divi theme by one of our designers. I needed to find & fix accessibility issues. There wasn't a single image on the site that had alt-text. 😳

I feel so drained. And it isn't that big of a website either. 😩

I need to run an updated scan tomorrow and finalize the list of issues that the designer has to resolve. I fixed what I could but the designer needs to fix the contrast issues & some Divi specific stuff.

I wish my company would stop selling Divi websites & sell one for me to work on. I have been relegated to being a content editor at this point. 😖

I need to get out of my own damn way, find a new job, and leave this one. The problem is the getting out of my own way. 😞

While I would love to attend a conference in person again, it's nice to be able to do so from the comfort of my couch in lounge clothes. That's what I'll be doing for today.

I've got my Chromecast on & waiting to stream the sessions once they start, and I actually left the house this morning 😳 to get a coffee.

Which reminds me ... I need to update all that stuff. It's been a while since I've done much programming. My company doesn't seem to be able to sell programming projects these days. I don't think they want to. 😞

I'm really looking forward to the Longhorn PHP conference this weekend. I'm "attending" virtually again this year.

I gave the account managers a heads up this morning [during our morning video call] that I won't be available on Friday due to the conference and to plan their deadlines accordingly.

I'm taking bets as to how many of them weren't listening and will still assign me tasks due on Friday or needing to be worked on on Friday. 🤪

My car almost didn't start yesterday morning even though the battery was replaced in the spring. And it almost didn't start again this morning. 😳 And my garage door wouldn't close because apparently the cold air is too thick and blocks the beam. 🤦🏼‍♀️

It's too early for this crap. 😩

All that damn anxiety, and it only took about 7 min to renew my license. No issues with the vision test either. Now I'm just waiting for my new license to print. Then a stop for coffee on my way back home to start the work day.

Well that was fun ... NOT!

The certificate for a partner SSO is expiring soon. The certificate update was scheduled for 7pm [central] tonight. Since I work from home ... no big deal, right? I should only have to upload the new certificate file & test the SSO. Bing, bang, boom ... done. Right? Wrong!

I uploaded the new cert & got an error. The cert couldn't be loaded. 🤬 Back & forth w/ partner for almost an hour to finally get a new cert file. I uploaded it, and everything is working now. 😩

I'm not sure what they did differently with the second certificate file other than it had a different file extension. The first one was a *.cer file while the second was a *.crt file. That shouldn't have mattered though because the expiring certificate was a *.cer file. 🤔

My guess is that the encryption method used on the first one was not what it should have been.

Whatever the issue, it's resolved. And I've got enough extra time logged to cover my DMV appointment on Friday. 👍

The week didn't end on the best [mental health] note, so I decided to spend some time in my Happy Place today.

I made 3 batches of scones.

  • pumpkin scones ... using cream cheese instead of butter
  • pumpkin cranberry scones ... I added 1/2 cup of craisins to my pumpkin scone recipe ... I stuck with butter this time
  • orange white chocolate cranberry scones ... I added cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves while I normally don't add any spices

I'm most excited about the cranberry scones.

Do I know anyone on here who is an Android user? Have you upgraded to Android 14 yet?

I just got the prompt to upgrade my Pixel 6 to Android 14. I'm wondering if it's safe to do so or if I should still wait a while until the first round of bugs have been squashed.

During the NASCAR races, I listen to the in-car audio of my favorite driver as well as the officials channel. The player doesn't have audio controls ... the officials channel is super loud & my driver's channel is super quiet.

Today I decided to search for a Firefox add-on that adjusts volume for individual tabs. I found one that does that as well as boosts the volume of a tab. It makes such a difference. I can hear my driver's crew chief now.

Why did I never think to look for this before?

I'm frustrated. This morning, I stopped at the bank to make what I intended to be an EXTRA payment on my mortgage. An extra FULL payment ... i.e. principle, interest, & escrow.

Apparently the guy applied it as a principle only payment instead. 🤨

I called in to customer service about it, and the rep I talked to didn't know much about mortgages. He said he didn't think it was possible for me to do that. Why not?!?

I'm calling back on Monday. I want to make 13 payments this year. Let me. 😝

Well crud. Apparently it just isn't possible to make 13 "regular" payments on my mortgage. I really wish they had that information on the bank's website. If I had known that, I would never have made the payment on Saturday. At least I've shortened the length of the loan. I'll still have to pay an escrow shortage in Feb though. Boo!

Are all mortgages like this? Did my internet search really fail me that much? 😩

I'm going through my project files today to determine what I should archive & what I should just outright delete. I probably don't need any files for clients that the company no longer works with. Or redesign files from 2017. 🤨

I tried to open Photoshop the other day to resize an image and got a "scratch disk full" message. I think I was down to around 20GB of free space. That's what prompted today's housekeeping.

It feels nice to hit "Delete Immediately" [from Trash] ... cathartic even. 😁

After going through my project files and uninstalling some apps (like Xcode), I'm back up to around 51GB of storage.

Next up ... cleaning up my Homestead box. I use one box for all of my projects. I cleaned up my Homestead.yaml file a while back but never rebuilt the box. Time to do that now. 🤞

I finished updating my Homestead.yaml file [before lunch], destroyed the active box, and ran the command to build a new box ... but I got an error message instead. 😱

My heart dropped. I thought I borked everything. Then I realized that I need to run the 'vagrant up' command from the directory that the Homestead project code is in. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I navigated to the correct directory and tried the 'vagrant up' command again. All is good ... at least the box is in the process of being built.

I only managed to read 5 books in 2022. My brain was just too broken to focus on words on a page. 😩 I'm hoping to change that in 2023.

I was finally able to pick up a book earlier this month. I devoured the beginning. Then my brain started to be an asshole, so the middle took a while to get through. But I devoured the ending over the past couple of days.

After not having the mental energy to pick up a book for the past 5 months, I was finally able to do so at the end of last week. This book sucked me in from the start (even though I didn't read over the weekend). I almost couldn't put it down last night. I finished it up after work today.
