Are there any Android users around here?

The Android 14 "feature drop" for December added the ability to use your Android phone as a webcam. I'm trying to figure out if I can use it with my laptop.

I'm on a "Late 2013" MacBook Pro, so I'm stuck on Big Sur. When I plug my phone (Pixel 6) into my laptop via USB, I can turn on the phone's webcam option, but I don't see any way to get my laptop to recognize it.

Is my computer just too old to do this? Or am I missing something simple? 🤔

Our average high temperature for this time of year [in North Dakota] is 24°F. There are 6 days in the 40s in the 10 day forecast [from the local tv station I watch]. 😳

After the long stretches of double digits below zero last winter, I'll take this. 😊

I miss the days that my company had a web project manager. Someone who knew what everyone's workload & schedule looked like. I was told that the company didn't see that position as "profitable".

I may be the only person left in the web dept but ...

There are 5 account managers & 4 "production managers"... and everyone is assigning tasks for their own projects for their own clients & setting random due dates but marking them as "hard" deadlines for no damn reason! And it's all due tomorrow.

I had no idea that Amazon sent packages out for delivery at 7pm on a Sunday night. The order had said that it would be delivered tomorrow. I feel bad for the delivery driver. If I had know the package went out for delivery, I would have turned on my porch light.

Now I just wish Amazon would actually ship the Chromecast that I ordered on Nov 25th. The other 3 items in that order were delivered this past Tuesday. Are they deliberately not shipping Google products or something? 🤔

The holidays last year weren't a good time for me [mental health wise]. I didn't decorate. I didn't bake. I would have ignored it completely if it wasn't for my Mom. I know she would have been disappointed if I didn't come home.

I'm feeling a tad better this year, but definitely not "holly jolly".

But I'm currently rearranging my living room to make room for my tree. Maybe if I put that up, I'll start to feel better. And maybe I'll at least make sugar cookies ... they're my favorite. 🤞

I really don't like being brushed off when I ask a question ... especially when it's something important like "open enrollment" of company benefits!

@joepferguson Thankfully my company does not. We're a small company - 24 people total. Quite a few work remotely [or hybrid] these days. We have daily morning meetings, and it's usually only 1 or 2 that have their camera turned on.

'Tis that time of year where I sign up for a free 30 day trial of Amazon Prime so I can do some Christmas shopping. 😁

I ordered headphones for myself & a Chromecast for my sister. 4 items total in the order. All "In Stock". All shipped by Amazon. All eligible for free Prime shipping. 3 of the items will be here Tuesday but the Chromecast won't be here until Dec 3-5, even w/ Prime. 🤔

Does Amazon need to order the Chromecast from Google first? I wonder why there is a delay on that item. 🤔 🤨

I'm looking for headphone recommendations.

Requirements: over-the-ear, cordless, bluetooth
Will be used w/: Android phone (Pixel 6), MacBook Pro

I don't care about noise-canceling because I work from home. I just want something that fits, feels snug & drowns out my tinnitus.

I had a pair of Jabra headphones that I really loved. They're over 7y old & falling apart. I wore them a LOT when I worked in the office.

I'd like to keep the price under $100, but I'm open to spending a little more.

Is anyone familiar w/ Soundcore by Anker ... specifically their over-ear headphones? I have charging bricks & cables from Anker, but I don't know anything about their Soundcore line.

Amazon has a few different models: Space One for $99, Life Q35 for $79.99 (BFD), Space Q45 for $99.99 (BFD)

I also found the JBL Live 460NC for $64.95 (BFD) & the 1MORE SonoFlow for $63.99 (BFD). I've heard of JBL but not 1MORE.

I wish I could get my hands on all of them to test.

I ended up ordering the Soundcore Life Q35 headphones from Amazon on Saturday. They were delivered this morning, and I'm impatiently waiting for them to charge so that I can try them out.

They came with a really nice hard case, which was one of the reasons that I went with the Q35 instead of the Space One model. If I ever travel, the case will be nice to keep them safe. 🤪

The headphones are all charged up, and I'm totally happy with this purchase so far. The sound is good. I can really hear the bass, which I like. They're comfortable on my head. I was worried they'd press down on the frames of my glasses, but so far so good. I need to wear them for an extended period of time to be sure. The bluetooth range is pretty good too. I just wish the cups would lock into place ... oh well.

This is my 13th winter in this house (I closed in Nov 2011 ... on my birthday actually) yet this is the first year that I put up driveway markers. 🤨

Hopefully nobody pulls them out or steals them. And hopefully [more so] the city plow actually pays attention to the 2 that are along the street. 🤞

I just tried to be a responsible adult but ended up proving that I shouldn't be without adult supervision. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Since winter is almost here, I thought it would be a good idea to fill up the gas can that I use for my snowblower. It is a 2.5 gallon can but had some gas left from last year. I stopped the pump at what I thought was 2 gal. Turns out that my dumb ass mixed up gal & dollars sold. I didn't get 2 gal. It was only 0.671 gal. It was $2 worth of gas. 🤦🏼‍♀️

At least I didn't spill any gas. 😩

I would like to thank the Universe for giving me a beautiful day [so far] for my birthday.

The weather is beautiful. It was 40°F when I woke up & the high temp is supposed to be 60°F, which is amazing for Nov in ND.

I took the day off & slept in 'til 8am. I got a haircut then went to get my free coffee from Caribou Coffee & my free cookie from Crumbl Cookies. I just got home from getting my free sammich from Jimmy John's for lunch. I think I'm going to do some shopping this afternoon. 😊

Regarding the weather ... the average temp for today is 41°F. Last year there was snow on the ground ... a shovel-able amount too. So when the weather is this nice on my birthday, I try to take advantage of it.

And today I learned that my birthday is on national pickle day. I got a HUGE pickle for free at Jimmy John's (along with my free birthday sammich). 😁

I spent today going through a WordPress website that was built using the Divi theme by one of our designers. I needed to find & fix accessibility issues. There wasn't a single image on the site that had alt-text. 😳

I feel so drained. And it isn't that big of a website either. 😩

I need to run an updated scan tomorrow and finalize the list of issues that the designer has to resolve. I fixed what I could but the designer needs to fix the contrast issues & some Divi specific stuff.

I wish my company would stop selling Divi websites & sell one for me to work on. I have been relegated to being a content editor at this point. 😖

I need to get out of my own damn way, find a new job, and leave this one. The problem is the getting out of my own way. 😞
