Things you probably don't know about me. #1 I love antarctic science and stories. So much that I have pretty much every book written about the heroic age. I also have this. It's a picture drawn by Dr. Edward Wilson, who accompanied Scott on both his polar expeditions. This is a picture drawn by Wilson as a gift to his sister on her birthday in around 1880. I love it!

I've started uploading some of the timelapses and real time videos I shot during last week's big auroral display to my youtube channel. Check them out at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti6nNjyD8U8

So yes. I’m getting up at ungodly o clock tomorrow to watch Arsenal play honourably. Man City have been financially doping for years and (surprise surprise) haven’t had points deducted because they have huge resources. Would be sooo funny if Citeh lose though.

I'm slowly going through aurora images from last Saturday night. Here's an image I thought I would never see. An auroral arc low in the NORTHERN sky in front of the SAR Arc!

@MikeBartley yes that’s the SAR arc

Last night the aurora was lovely, so, rather than heading somewhere remote, I sat in my back garden and enjoyed the view. Here's a 90 minute exposure taken twixt 22:22 and 23:52.

No 2.5 hour road trip to witness an aurora last night. I slummed it in my back garden!

@mlanger I have no need for companies that exploit workers and destroy the night sky. I rather suspect the world could very easily do without both and be a better place for it :-)

i also managed to image this afternoon's ISS solar transit using my Hydrogen Alpha Telescope. The detail on the solar disk is fascinating! #ISS #spacestation #astronomy

Boom. Not the best Space Station solar Transit ever, but I managed to spot this one from my garden. At the time the ISS was just over 1000km away from my location. This is a composite image
