Hey y’all, been thinking about growing some mushies for awhile. I would like to know what your best setups would be on a budget around $200-$300 or less? Looking to grow once or twice from a small tub or jar. Not looking for pre made setups, looking to learn how to DIY entirely.

If you followed proper sterile procedures, used a SAB, and if you got the MSS from a reputable source, it’s not uncommon. Congrats! Great start! I always wait for the mycelium to colonize the top of the agar before making transfers

Uncle Ben Tek imo, some people dislike it, but it’s the easiest and cheapest way to start without a pressure cooker. Check out the link to 90 second mycology in the sidebar.
This was actually my first time trying corn, it worked well! I've seen some amazing results with corn, but I'm just experimenting with different types right now.
Oh, you’re talking about senescence. New growers are always concerned with it. G2G transfers are generally good to do about 3-4 times, could be more depending on the genetics and the quantity of grain spawn.
This one is my second G2G, it should still fruit nicely, but next generation I’ll probably start from spores again.
