Can we stop calling japan’s national legislature the Diet?

It doesn’t even sound Japanese. ディエト？ ?

They should start calling it Kokkai in gaikokugo to make the foreigners have to say a small tsu

I was trying to look up some info about the Diet and it was really hard to not get search results about the health benefits of fish and natto 😡

Japanese Meiji and pre-occupation period constitutionalism was based on the Germanic model, that is to say, the Holy Roman Empire and later the Reich, just as its navy was based on Britain and its Army specifically on Prussia.

The Germanic model has key theoretical differences of the state and sovereignty vs the Anglo model.

This is why it is incorrect to say Japanese parliament. It is a Diet.
