Ugh, patchy power in this weather is a double whammy. But I’d hope there are plenty of safety precautions and limitations on workers going out to do repairs in this kind of weather. My colleagues up in the hills will not be having a great time, probably…
I’m glad I managed to move most of my plants back to my balcony today despite the exhaustion. Apparently a couple toppled on the central balcony while I was away, leaving a bit of a mess with the potting mix. Friend who watered them while I was away did her best to tidy up but I’m hoping some of the wind and rain washes it away and my relocated plants stay upright.
Definitely try and put something together, it’ll help take your mind off the argument. I made my risoni pasta with heaps of veg and it’s taken off some of the edge of the day. That sense of accomplishment and completion is useful.
I concur. I once did a job there. It’s so exasperatingly bland. I really wish they did more with the huge space. I think Council was planning to but then covid happened and I didn’t follow up.
Been tasting a bit more and holy cow it does taste good for just pure chillo + salt, no garlic etc. No off flavours. I used all the brine and it still has a moderately thick yet pourable consistency.
Am loving the absolute FRUITINESS that’s really shone through, normally these are too spicy to feel the fruitiness but fermenting has been perfect for these dudes!! What a new way to enjoy the bounty of chillies. Thank you for planting the seed in me and encouraging me to finally get off my arse and give it a go :) I will definitely be doing more of this next summer. Maybe even with the last chillies that have ripened while I was away.
Moved as many of the plants as I physically could, and the little plant supplies cupboard that is a bitch to carry. Clothes are 90% dry and towels 50% dry and indoors now. The carport is still a disgusting mess and I’ll leave that for another weekend when I’ll also finally get around to installing my dashcam.
Now I need to:
vacuum the house a bit from tramping in and out with plants
get onions and potatoes and tuna from colesworth as I wasn’t organised enough to do so from an independent grocer before today
bulk up remaining vegan “ragu” with lentils
make a lil pot pie with said leftovers and potato
make risoni pasta with green peas and Brussels sprouts and tuna
clean kitchen
shower
get ready for tomorrow
That’ll do me, I think. OH AND I NEED TO TEST OUT MY CHILLI FERMENT. @Bottom_racer your thoughts pls.
Ugh, yeah. I feel like if I forced myself to get up and started moving I’d have been alright in the end, and just gone to sleep early, but it’s too late to have any regrets. Back to work tomorrow so I need to park my frustration with myself…
I had too many stimulating things yesterday and couldn’t sleep till 2, felt like a total wreck this am and absolutely couldn’t get out of bed until 1pm - wasted a whole glorious morning of sunshine to do the laundry 😭 let alone go for a walk.
Hurriedly doing it now on a short cycle to get even 2-3 hours of sun in, scarfed down some lunch and gonna try move as many of the plants as I can before Terrible Weather descends on us from the wee hours of tonight. Will NOT beat myself up for the total lack of energy and motivation to get out of bed and embrace life.
Some hectic winds forecast for Tuesday morning. Does this mean we can make it an extra long weekend? I kinda wish I could wfh but given that I’ve just had a long holiday and need to be briefed on some site visits for Wednesday, possibly not. :c
I thought I was being smart and making the most of my long day out at the ‘Rat by filling up at 177c… Shoulda checked Petrol Spy, the reliable ol’ BP on Heidelberg Rd was still at 172! Oh well, shout out to the Sebastopol BP, they have shit ratings on Google but I’ve always only ever had the loveliest staff there, I’ll cop the $1.35 extra.
Alright I’ve been back for about 24 hours now so it’s time to start whinging. It’s not even the cold that’s getting me down (this alpaca woollen jumper is almost too warm), IT’S THE GREY. IT’S 1PM AND I’VE HAD MY LIGHTS ON ALL DAY. So bleak outside. Give me back my sun!
I have a bunch of chores to do like packing away all my summer items, moving pots back to my (fixed) balcony and tidying up the thoroughly messy carport, heaps of laundry, changing bedsheets, washing the bird poop off my car from just before I left (bad timing, it’s been on the car for 2.5 weeks now)…
Looking at the weather I think I can put it all off to Monday. And so I shall. I deserve a day of doing nothing (but maybe I’ll get the car washed today and do a bit of laundry). (and sort out the presents.)
