Run BTS! really is so good... i found an old google doc that i made for my SIL in 2021 when she was just getting into BTS with my favorite episodes and "highlight moments" and i recommended 40 out of 155 episodes at the time. FORTY!!!

All right, potentially ~controversial opinion abt #KPop ahoy. IF you disagree and want to tell me abt it, do so while being /respectful/ or get blocked.

There was a video essay I watched yesterday from a Kpop channel I'm subscribed to. They posted a video abt how to make Kpop Great Again (terrible title, but whatever). Their point was that Kpop's essence has been diluted due to globalization, songs becoming shorter, and too many groups sounding and looking alike.

(Put a pin on that)

Their 'solutions' were to have more risk-takers (like NMIXX and aespa), work on better/more eye-popping performances, and also some specific suggestions for Twice to be better (accordingn to OP, their last fave comeback was "Feel Special" which was 2019, I think).

FTR, OP did say that this was their opinion and that they're sure there are ppl who have v. little issues with the current state of Kpop (including 5th gen).
IIRC, they categorized 5th gen as Simplicity. (cont)

Today I bring you content no one asked for or wants, but I started thinking about it the other day and it got out of hand so now you have to think about it too.

(disclaimer: I have only run six of these races—I need Tokyo for my last Star—so I have to base that one off of friends’ thoughts)

Tokyo - Yoongi

There’s a reason over 50% of Six Star Finishers get their final star in Tokyo: it’s almost impossible to get into this race. You have to be extremely fast or extremely lucky or donate a huge amount to charity. But what you get for your efforts is a fast course and the time of your life.

Tokyo and Yoongi both have High Standards to the max, but always deliver Quality. The most elusive, but so worth it.

Boston - Namjoon

Boston is the oldest annual marathon in the world, which is maybe why it gets to consider itself so elite that it doesn’t offer a lottery like every other major. It’s also a tricky course that looks easy but is the slowest of all the majors.

Like Namjoon was, Boston is my marathon bias. May seem a little pretentious to outsiders, but you work your ass off to get here.

Boston was my 2nd marathon and 1st star. It made me want to run. Namjoon made me want to BTS. Both are home

London - Jimin

The London marathon is not that hard to get into—IF you live in the UK. For the rest of us (who aren’t fast) it’s a bloodbath. London prioritizes its people.

I personally believe Jimin (followed by Namjoon) is the most likely member to ACTUALLY be able to complete a marathon (fight me about JK I have an Argument). London is big and flashy and I scored my current PR there—though I wanted to die most of the race—so Jimin gets this honor. He was also there with me (in paper form)

Berlin - Taehyung

Berlin is usually considered the fastest of the majors. Many world records happen in Berlin. In fact, Eliud Kipchoge set the world record in 2018 when I ran it! (Then he set it again in 2022, then Kelvin Kiptum set the current record in Chicago)

Funny story—Berlin was my worst race. Maybe I was having too much fun beforehand? Taehyung feels like he would fit right in, whether it’s having too much fun or setting world records. He can do both.

The 2018 medal which randomly had kipchoge’s portrait on it to celebrate his 2016 Olympic gold. I feel Taehyung would also vibe with being handed a medal with his own face on it (or Yeontan’s face)

Random thought is random, but anyways. So I was talking with a friend abt RM's leadership when she mention wishing there was a /series/ featuring the leaders for all HYBE groups together.

So, off the top of my head that'd mean: BTS' RM, TXT's Soobin, LSF's Kim Chaewon, NewJeans' Minji, SVT' S.Coups, fromis_9' Saerom, and whoever the leaders are for TWS, &Team, Enhypen, BoyNextDoor, and Illit (IDK their names, sorry!). I'm not including Katseye cuz they haven't debuted yet.

It could be a series divided like so:

ep 1 - Gen 3 and Gen 4 leaders separated by generations

ep 2 - everyone together

ep 3 - some of the good and bad things abt being a leader

ep 4 - leaders asking each other questions abt random stuff/issues/what-have-you

I'd legit LOVE THAT. HYBE, GET ON THIS!

I’m really enjoying this TXT’s comeback, just trying to take it all in one day at a time 💜 It makes me wonder how amazing it must’ve been to experience comebacks with BTS, what it must have felt like watching videos for the first time, all the promotions, all the performances and everything else. I can only imagine the feeling 🥹 I only got to experience Proof and solo albums, but it’s definitely not the same feeling of getting a new album and a new concept of them as BTS.
