What’s interesting about the "certainly, here is a…” AI appearing in scholarly publications is how sloppy it all it all is. It’s not deception; that takes effort and commitment. This is laziness - for whatever reasons - on the part of many actors.

Not least our good friends in academic publishing who are really showing what value they’re adding for all those paywalls and APCs.
