You should read Against Empire by Michael Parenti to understand the motives behind US foreign policy. It is not that Isreal has their hand up our ass. As then Senator Biden once said, “Were there not an Israel, the United States of America would have to invent an Israel to protect her interests in the region.”
I really think you’d find that Parenti book a fascinating read.

Except this is already happening where I live. And will continue to happen where I live under Biden. And will continue to not happen in blue states where it’s not currently happening. You are deeply unserious if you think Biden is going to do shit for women or trans people. You’ll have better luck pressuring Biden and the DNC to do something other than their current strategy than convincing the millions of people who ALREADY live in the reality you seem so afraid of.

The only political power you have within America’s political system electoralism is a game of chicken wherein you withhold your vote unless change occurs. If you’re mad at people saying they won’t vote for Biden, I urge you to direct your energy at Biden and the DNC.
There are other avenues to change, but they get your head bashed in by cops, so I’m confident the people tut-tutting about voting will never get involved at that level. Must feel great to ignore the devastating impact of American foreign policy just because it doesn’t happen near you!

I flubbed one stat that doesn’t really move the needle on the point I was trying to make. I was thinking of world powers and didn’t double check to make sure nations scorned by empire didn’t barely hedge the US out of the top 5 on per capita (though another of its territories made it).

The proper term is social democratic. Socialism has a simple and specific definition. Those Nordic countries have changed nothing about who owns the means of production and therefore have no relation to socialism.

Kind of a moot point these days, but I always wished OGG pushed MP3s out of the way. It generally has better audio quality, lower file size, and is an open source format. MP3s had their patent die (I think) and file storage has become less of an issue, but damnit OGG was perfect for the 00s. My plex server is still full of OGGs (I can’t hear the difference with uncompressed, but my hearing is bad).
I guess my other unpopular music opinion is that I still buy music. I guess ANOTHER unpopular music opinion is that I think algorithmic suggestions aren’t great and ultimately limit the kinds of music one is exposed to if that’s their only source of new music.
