Anyway I left my Paris Market carrots to themselves after a few thinnings and only now are they really starting to get larger, way behind schedule. It’s because I’ve been busy with other things and not applying Powerfeed. Next time I’ll use slow release granules. Also I would probably need a much wider/larger container, because while there’s been zero issues with the depth of a windowbox they do need room to expand and after thinning you really don’t get many.
Seeing as it’s getting colder I might sow some silverbeet or spinach in the boxes, or as they’re an heirloom variety I could just let the carrots go to seed.
Right now the only plants I’m really keeping an eye on are my cat’s continuous sow pots of cat grass, and the rosemary cuttings growing into bushes in some paper cups. I think one died but the other is having new growth and might want a bigger pot.
Clearance Kmart sketch kit arrived yesterday. The first thing I cracked into was the sandpaper sharpening board. It’s really small and the wooden backing is chipboard but it’s a vast improvement on trying to smooth/taper pencil leads with a pack of emery boards. (Doable but awkward and very easy to start honing at the wrong angle. They were previously all that was on hand and it was a hassle to buy sandpaper alone.)
Sometimes Melbcat isn’t too excited about her wet food but will eat it with a meal topper of some cracker crumbs, or a couple of treats sprinkled on top. (I know carbs make cats chubby and are bad for their teeth, I’m just being very indulgent because of her age.)
They just spackle over it and next time it rains water comes right through again. One time they did go up to the roof and said it was some issue with water getting under the flashing due to the join of units.
Ahh… guess that would be too much to ask. Given that there was warning I just hoped they’d already be working on it, or a vaguely similar strain would have been included
Edit: But I mean if the possibility of transmission between people even exists then why wait? We saw the cost and disruption of lockdowns and the strollout. I really want the government to be more proactive this time if we’re at risk of another pandemic.
I can’t believe I forgot about these. You can buy Covid/sickness care packages online and get it delivered to you. I sent one to my friend a few years back www.google.com/search?q=covid+care+package+melbou…
I really don’t get the outrage when something dares to have a black character. Doesn’t affect anybody. I wonder if these dudes also scream about medieval inspired games and tv shows having dragons.
Cat TMIPoor kitty is bunged up and her tummy hurts… waiting on the vet to call back. I have Microlax that could get her going but want to be sure it’s safe to do at home first. I’ve already given her some Osmolax and might see if she’ll let me start mixing pumpkin baby food into her wet food again.
I’m tossing up between getting a heated throw or an electric blanket because I keep constantly boiling the kettle for hot water bottles. (Don’t like turning on the heater because it’s expensive to heat the whole room and the energy escapes without good insulation, also I can overheat easily when it does warm up.)
While I’m on the site I’m also checking out the cheap skincare at Kmart, since out of laziness I’ve basically been washing my face with bar soap/just plain water in the shower and using a bit of thin unscented lotion after. Not much outside of that except sunscreen so it’s getting a bit dry and congested.
There’s a sensitive unscented moisturiser that could be a cheaper alternative to the Cerave lotion. There’s also a foaming cleanser that I’m still deciding about. It could be more drying than the Cerave gentle cleanser but might remove sunscreen better… I did buy a small tube of sorbolene to see if that would clean it off but I remembered that sorbolene can leave my skin red and stinging.
Successfully unblocked the cat. She’s still not feeling good in her tummy so she’s resting.
It’s quite chilly and they’re relatively inexpensive so I got both the electric blanket and the throw. I also got a few little things I’d kind of been needing
