nitefox,

Do not tempt me I’m stronger than this

Do not tempt me I’m stronger than this

Do not tempt me I’m stronger than this

Do not tempt me I’m stronger than this

Do not tempt me I’m stronger than this

nitefox,

I try to fight some battles about ads, accessibility and an open web but I’m a failing don Chiosciotte; best I can actively do is test mainly for Firefox and make sure everything works properly there but for more business related decisions (see: ads, consent etc) there is little to nothing I can do

nitefox,

Imagine thinking 3 is worse than whatever fucking mess phantom menace was. 7 was 4 but worse

nitefox,

7 wasn’t though, it just followed the same plot structure without anything that made it good

nitefox,

Downvoted for saying the truth. Most cyclist I met here are absolutely jerks, they drive not even on the sidelines - no, they fucking drive in the mid of the road and if you try to surpass they move to the left.

For some it’s not their fault they are a bit of a nuisance obviously (those who cycle near the sidewalks, who signal were they are going etc), the cyclist infastructure is non existent here

nitefox,

I’m trans, I hate talking about gender stuff

So yeah, they never did

nitefox,

The solution to corruption is to stop being human. There, I said it.

nitefox,

That goes for anything, every system ever made by humans. Even the first forms of democracy, including direct democracy, falls under this umbrella. After all in the theory-world, where everything is ideal, humans do behave good so communism (but any form of good government is possible, even anarchy or a good autocracy).

In the real world, though, humans behave like humans so you get corruption and weird power play. So even if you got a nice working system where every human support society, it will inevitably fail under corruption after the first generations of those who put in place such a system die; which is exactly what happens throughout history each time, even in Athens.

Tldr: theoretical perfect system cannot exist in practice since we are flawed creatures

nitefox,

Lucifer was kinda right ngl

nitefox,

Like ancient Athens! It failed obviously.

Or like Ancient Rome! It failed, obviously.

Or like any modern democracy! It failed, obviously.

The problem is that “masses” are truly a reflection of their government and vice versa, more so in a democracy. You take for a given “the mass” takes good decisions but this, again, works only in the ideal world.

And if you think things are better than the past, think again: internet and social media spread so much crap and allowed people to talk too freely, so now you get Joe the Farmer believing he is some sort of genius cause he knows that there is big plot and the corps are covering it up; you get Dalila the economist believe she knows anything about software development; you get Dario the cheese eater believe he is a medievalist just because he read (and ate) “the cheese and the worms”. And all of this people wouldn’t give shit about the “so-called” experts, cause they studied it on eatashit.altervista.org so they must know better than the college-cuck

nitefox,

I don’t disagree with you but how do you prevent misinformation, manipulation and polarisation?

nitefox,

He brought peace, freedom, justice and security to his new empire

nitefox,

Which honestly makes sense, what’s the point of PWA on desktop?

nitefox,

I love how somehow electron is the lazy way while web apps isn’t, even though electron is just an executable with chromium bundled

nitefox,

Yeah but it’s as buggy as hell

nitefox,

What’s the difference to open it in your own browser then?

nitefox,

You don’t have to rely on stupid “app” stores

nitefox,

I agree that ElectronJS is shit but the idea behind isn’t bad. See tauri, it achieved the same thing but better

Source: I’m a developer forced to also work with electron

nitefox,

Mmh I see! I used a tool to convert the website to an electron package (for Linux), but the experience was just the same as using the browser so I just went with that tbf

What are the craziest misconceptions you’ve heard about programming from people not familiar with it?

As someone who spends time programming, I of course find myself in conversations with people who aren’t as familiar with it. It doesn’t happen all the time, but these discussions can lead to people coming up with some pretty wild misconceptions about what programming is and what programmers do....

nitefox,

Or some stupid Facebook “””issue”””

nitefox,

Thank you! Maybe it’s the graphic? Idk.

I’m applying to both Italian and English speaking positions, but oddly enough nobody ever calls me back. With the first version of my CV I never had this problem so I’m quite confused what changed. At some point I thought it was my mail provider (Apple + custom domain), cause I got an email asking for some info about my residence but I never got back which was odd… tho I asked them on LinkedIn and they never replied either so idk.

About React, I never used it professionally tho I did some fun projects (which I never finished) + contributed with a few PRs to voyager/wefwef

EDIT: in the programming languages section I had C and Python but I removed them since I never liked Python and I don’t remember anything about it and I thought C isn’t that much relevant tbf

nitefox,

Oh I’m in EU. Right now I’m quite sure the situation is overall shit too Tbf

nitefox,

Do you have any experience in react? If so I’d consider documenting that on your resume. It seems like every front end job I run into is looking for someone with react lately. On second look it seems like you do have some react experience but I don’t see any evidence of that in your job descriptions.

It’s just hobbyist but I’m trying to land a job which primarily uses React/Next, though I don’t really care about frameworks it’s just to have a breath of fresh air. I contributed some PRs to voyager/wefwef aside for never-completed-side-projects

You mention building and maintaining multiple websites. It helps to be specific on what those websites did, what tech stacks they were on, and your role. Right now it reads very generically which may imply you’re inexperienced.

They are a few I developed on my own:

  • two are CRMs - one of which my company’s product, which I still maintain and there is a restyle scheduled - which I developed from scratch collaborating with designers;
  • one is a platform for quoting projects, again I developed it from scratch and I still maintain it.

Then there is project I quoted under REST api, there I worked just on the REST and DB side, collaborating with some coworkers.

Then I went here and there for small features, a refactor.

Aside for the REST’s one, which is an integration mix for Electron and Express (so Node + TS), they all share the same tech stack (Vue/Nuxt + JS)

nitefox,

At this point I think my writing skill reached its limit so maybe I should just hire a professional to write a good CV for me
