Devs boasting about pushing to prod on a Friday afternoon isnโ€™t indicative of robust procedures or resilient systems. More likely to indicate an unhealthy work culture.

@anderseknert we deploy on Fridays quite frequently but for a few reasons:

  • Our setup allows us to deploy really easily and quickly so we can check the deployment status not long after we push the button
  • We use GitOps (ArgoCD) so it has automatic rollbacks etc...
  • Were not a mission critical system if it's down for what ever reason on Monday morning it's OK for us to pick it up then.
  • Our sprints tend to end on Thursday ๐Ÿ˜‚ so if we don't do it Thurs then it's Friday (or Monday sometimes)

Weekend trip to the city of Gรคvle. Some hours at a play land, and later dinner at the โ€Church Street Saloonโ€ ๐Ÿค  Certainly something out of the ordinary. The kids loved it.

"OPA is much more wide ranging. You can use it for permissions, sure, but also just about anything else you can imagine. I think that makes it much more compelling as a technological investment."

I love that you can do all kinds of stuff with it, maybe it's not always "the intended use" but i like doing weird stuff sometimes ๐Ÿคฃ

Met with an ex-colleague recently who told me heโ€™s relying more and more on co-pilot for coding at work. Not just โ€œautocompleteโ€ but the chat where you tell it what you want and it can write hundreds of LOC from that. Not for me but to each their own. But what really stuck with me is how he told me how heโ€™d been asked to explain something in a PR he submitted andโ€ฆ he couldnโ€™t. He had no idea what the code โ€œheโ€ had written did in that location. What the actual fuck. Iโ€™d die there and then.

@anderseknert I use copilot more now as like a rubber duck, and sometimes to write regex's ๐Ÿ˜… I don't really think there should be any bad stigma if you use copilot though which I think sometimes there is, but I do agree that even if you do want to use it to write blocks of code, for your own sake try and understand what it's actually doing ๐Ÿซก

    Latest release of the extension integrates for linting right in your editor! This was something I have wanted since I started working on Regal over a year ago, so to finally see it happen is quite rewarding ๐Ÿ˜ Thanks @charlieegan3 for your exceptional work on this!

    After a year or more with an Apple Watch, the only thing I really use it for (other than as a watch) is that one that makes your iPhone beep loudly so you can find it. I donโ€™t feel like that alone motivates the watch though. Can the same thing be done from my MacBook instead?

    @anderseknert @michenriksen can't help but feel smart watches are somewhat of a gimmick, although you can also buy a super expensive watch that only tells the time ๐Ÿ˜…
