I think with a topic like this, you can’t NOT spark a huge discussion. I hope you still got some useful answers out of it :)

How do middle-click-to-paste and middle-click-to-scroll conflict? In Firefox I can click-to-paste if the cursor is over an input field and click-to-scroll anywhere else. Never had any problem with this behavior.

Thank you for the thorough write-up. I’m surprised the answer is a “(mostly) yes” (Betteridge’s law).

Will listen to it as soon as I have time.

Issue Tracking System for Linux (feddit.uk)

Hey gang! Looking for some recommendations on issue tracking software that I can run on Linux. Partly so that I can keep track of my hobby dev projects, partly so that I’ve got a bit more to talk about in interviews. My current workplace uses Jira, Trello and Asana for various different projects, which, eh, mostly serve their...

Oh, this sounds interesting. I’ll have to give this a try.

if you’re willing to use proprietary drivers it works, but it has some hiccups

Do you know if nvidia still has issues with Wayland or are nvidia and MAD on par nowadays in that area?

Sounds like currently AMD is a safer bet if one was in the market for a new card.

Thanks for your answer.

Why wait a few years and not avoid it completely? I doubt there’s any reliable data that confirms a significant loss in sales if they launched without Denuvo and its ilk. DRM is at best useless and at worst “harms” customers.

… there is probably some benefit.

I was not thinking about the business side but rather about what the customer gets out of it. What bothers me about DRM systems is that they cause problems that you don’t have with pirated game, which is the opposite of how it should be. I don’t want to struggle to get a game running, when the pirated version does not caus those problems. That being said, I haven’t bought any large AAA title in years and my experience is from 7+ years ago. Maybe things have changed but I kinda doubt it.

I guess pirates don’t result in additional costs for the developer from dealing with support tickets or other forms of customer care 🤷

Ooh, that makes sense. I’m not too familiar with key resellers, so I was just guessing. But you explanation makes more sense. Thank you

You should technically be able to run the exe with proton (assuming, you’re talking about Windows games). Maybe Steam does some extra work like setting certain environment variables (see github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton#runtime-config-op… for a list).

Or you could just run non-steam games through Steam

GPG is probably the most commonly used one. If you want something with a slightly less awkward command line interface, you could try sequoia-pgp.

I’ve never worked on a larger C project, so I’m not the best judge, but I would recommend 21st Century C by Ben Klemens. It was very accessible and gave me a pretty good understanding of how the language worked and how to use modern versions of it.

For me personally, I only keep things I find worth rewatching, so about 50% I delete after. Same with e-books. Games I don’t really pirate (or only pirate them to see if I can run them on my computer). Usually I buy them on Steam and that’s good enough, even though sometimes you lose access to them. I tend to not go back to older games.

Why is my Lemmy experience feeling so lame? **UPDATE**

I’ve subscribed to a plethora of communities that really interest me and actually have posts and discussions in them, but I have to go to the specific community to see this. My “Subscribed” feed only contains a few of the same posts that I’ve seen for weeks in Hot, the same posts from even longer ago in “Active”,...

CHROME (google) is planing to implement DRM (kinda) into their browser (lemmy.dbzer0.com)

looks like rendering adblockers extensions obsolete with manifest-v3 was not enough so now they try to implement DRM into the browser giving the ability to any website to refuse traffic to you if you don’t run a complaint browser ( cough…firefox )...

You’re not wrong but i don’t think this has anything to do with being free. If companies want to track you, they will (except for those whosr business model is privacy maybe). Regardless of how much you pay them.

Is the screenshot you posted from Ubuntu or Pop!_OS? Because partition 4 is a swap partition.

But I agree with mudeth, having a system partition and a dedicated /home one is a decent setup.

Love the composition and lighting in this picture! The lit leaf with the surrounding foliage in the shade really works. Did you do any post-processing?

It really is a perfect scene :D Thank you for explaining and for sharing the photograph!
