When I was 11 or 12 I had to go to the shops to get my mum her menstrual products ... It always made me feel nice ... I would pretend they were for me ... Blush

@melissabeartrix Sorry that you didn't get the chance to experience periods (though i wouldn't wish ones like mine on anyone, not everyone's are like that).

Spent most of my life since age 12 wishing my periods would just eff off then eff off some more (they have been consistently horrendous and have still been an ongoing issue into my 50s FFS).

Happy to find that Newcastle have an online a tree map that identifies lots of public trees, including the ones in my fave local park, Lambton Park. You can even send your fave trees emails if you want - how lovely.

This tree, hidden amongst other foliage, is a bunya pine. It's a few trees down from what turned out to be a hoop pine (got them mixed up).

Maps going to help id the figs too.

With the fig trees in the park, have been calling them all Moreton Bay figs in a similar way to calling tissues Kleenex. So i'm excited to find out these ones are apparently Hills Weeping Figs.

Mum going well on her first arvo home from hospital. Managed to lift and transfer her a couple of times with no drama. Even though they did that in hospital with similar equipment a couple of times a day (using the sling otherwise), nice to see it working out in at home.

@melissabeartrix wasn't keen. Bit indignant whenever it happened as i recall. And possibly vocal about it to whoever made the mistake till mum quashed that. Not quite "no, i'm a girl, you dope," but with a definite flavour of that. 😂

The waves coming in at Catherine Hill Bay.

Video of small blue-green ocean waves breaking on a sandy beach on a sunny day with only a few small puffs of cloud on the far horizon. The last shallow push of the wave brings the water up to where you could imagine the photographer was standing (out of shot). The water was wonderfully cooling on a hot day).

New reflections. Walked around the Hunter Wetlands Centre with a friend this arvo. Had been wanting to get out to see it for ages.

Could smell the salt really strongly among the mangroves here - the muddy waters here are part of the Hunter River Estuary (think it's also part of Ironbark Creek which is tidal and goes through a fair chunk of Newcastle).

Also dropping off supplies to the local food pantry (it's a cupboard in the park, kind of like a free library but bigger). Try to order extra stuff with our groceries whenever we can so have a bit saved up to donate. Mostly simple breakfast stuff like bread, peanut butter, tinned fruit, milk and cereal. Added a few little boxes of chocs for Christmas.
