Are there any @FreeCAD gurus around here ?
I'm looking for advice/help on how to apply a subtractive pipe to create a groove in a (weirdly) curved surface.
The surface is green in the pictures below.

This is a support for an electronic device and I'm trying to "hide" the power cable by "clipping it" in one of the 3 legs.

Happy to share a FCStd file if needed.

scollado,

@chrishuck @mfraz74 @FreeCAD wow nice, that totally looks like what I'm trying to achieve!
I'll definitely have to try out this workbench.
Thanks for the time you put in this and also putting me on track with the solution.
I'll get my hands on the Curves WB as soon as I'm back home ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

scollado,

@mfraz74 @FreeCAD
I never tried this workbench, at least as of now, maybe it's time to discover it ๐Ÿ˜
Thanks for the suggestion ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

scollado,

@chrishuck haa it seems that my screenshot didn't get attached to my last message. Here it is again:

scollado,

@chrishuck @mfraz74 @FreeCAD In case that can be of any use, while this is printing I continued to explore possible solutions with the Subtractive Pipe operation of PartDesign (I'm a bit stubborn), and found out an alternative solution that use a setting that I never fully tested out : Orientation Mode = Auxiliary.

Now I have 2 choices for the next time I have to model this king of feature, nice!

scollado,

@chrishuck I'll have to fiddle a bit with the thickness constraints and printing settings but Il looks pretty good for a first try ๐Ÿ˜

scollado,

@chrishuck Here is the result

scollado,

@chrishuck last picture and I'll stop spamming you ๐Ÿ˜‚:
Test fit with target device

scollado,

Je garde la rรฉfรฉrence sous le coude au cas oรน la Dymo dรฉcide de rendre l'รขme un jour ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

Today I made my first money by 3D-printing something for someone who was willing to pay ๐ŸŽ‰

scollado,

@pierstoval Nice ! congrats ๐ŸŽ‰

I'm still pondering getting started with 3D-printing myself, for personal use.
But I really can't choose which 3D-printer to start with.
Any advice on a model/brand in particular ?
