Coastal bathymetric contours (left) and topobathymetric contours (right) of Japan. Couldn't decide which one I like better so here's both.

I have a linestring with messy ends (like a tangled ball of yarn). How can I smooth the messy ends so that it traces a nice curve around the yarn-like segments? I tried the {smoothr} package but it doesn't seem to work. #rstats

Also open to QGIS or Python approaches.

@tylermorganwall This is probably something I can work out for myself but I've learned that asking you saves me time. 😅 Can I use the z coordinate for the altitude of a path in render_path if I have altitude (xyz) data?

terence,
@terence@fosstodon.org avatar

@tylermorganwall To think I've been manually specifying a value all this time.

@tylermorganwall Also, how hard would it be to get voxel rendering in rayrender? Been thinking I could try to mimic it through plot_gg or perhaps stack cubes in rayrender.

Thanks to @hughagraham, here's a tree canopy height viz of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i two ways—canopy height only (left), over shaded relief (right). Which do you prefer?

As requested by @jarrin_v, here's a quick render of Lago Titicaca's bathymetry. It's more challenging to find lake bathymetry data compared to seas and oceans. Let me know if you have better data!

Okay, I fixed the visualisation here. Here are roads and buildings of the island of Ireland with insets of the more populated cities. I even corrected the name of one city.

Does anyone know of a good image viewer for Linux? The default one I'm using can't handle large files...been using a browser instead and figured it's time to find something.
