I have enough self kills to confirm Autocannon has explosive damage. It’s always fun to gamble whether a close up shot will result in an immediate death or one from an impact.

I hear they can be found as targets in lvl 4 to 6 missions. I have not independently confirmed this.

This particular Game Master does not show the dice being rolled. Joel is a puffinforest type game master where things will rapidly swing between cake walk and total party kill.
