Is anyone aware of a tool that'll break a huge Swift file down into smaller files based on the types inside? We've got a generated file that's over 46,000 lines long and it's taking about 5 minutes to compile. Given how Xcode isn't great at working out when it doesn't need to recompile things that haven't changed, it's costing us dearly in time.

I live in such a bad place for native development community (there isn't one here in Newcastle, Australia).

The onus is on me to reach out and be part of online communities, but that's not a complete replacement.

It's incredibly isolating.

GitHub Actions Cache is so slow it's timing out workflows on my self-hosted runners.

Has anyone else noticed that GitHub has become a whole lot less reliable since Microsoft bought them? I guess unsurprising from the company that bought us such bug-ridden hits as AppCenter and Azure Pipelines (I know, it's all this under the covers).

Does this string interpolation exist? It seems like a helpful thing that should be in the standard library.

It would let you change:

"My enum is (enumCase.rawValue)”

into:

"My enum is (enumCase)”

I agree with this post whole heartedly. “Hybrid” is a temporary approach that’ll be rolled back to full time in the office at the first possible opportunity.

Working in an office full time is regressive, and if you’re asking your employees to do this, your business practices are regressive. Nobody needs to be that physically available for a tech job that they need to be onsite for even three days each week.

Less than 24 hours after my surgery, and I have better than 20/20 vision. Still a few slight flares around things, but even those have improved. Next to no discomfort/scratchiness.

This is wild - I can see without glasses! 🎉

I love my kids, but some universal goblin set our parenting experience to hardcore mode and there's no option to set it to anything else.

Being a parent to ND kids means never really having proper downtime, nor celebrating things like birthdays in the ways that are meaningful to you.

Has anyone ever seen SwiftPM on the CLI behave differently to Xcode with the same targets? My target has an xcasset bundle in it - Xcode processes this into the expected .car format, but SwiftPM CLI is just copying the xcasset bundle wholesale into the expected bundle.

Update: looks like it's not supported, and you should do xcodebuild -scheme MyLibrary-Package -destination … test instead of swift test.

Not a cracking pace, but we did think we’d make the first bus back until we were about half way around Uluṟu.

Spoiler: we did not make the first bus. Ended up walking down to the cultural centre, which was sadly being refurbished, so very little was open.

Leah and I are headed to ‎Uluṟu tomorrow - first time either of us has been there, and we're celebrating 20 years of being together.

I am really looking forward to it. We haven't had a proper break together since before our first kid was born 11 years ago.

Thought I fixed our second toilet, but then I gave it a congratulatory slap on the cistern for working so well and the seal on the base broke and now there’s water (thankfully clean) everywhere.

Had a taxi ride today in a hybrid Camry that was flashing errors on the console saying things like “battery cooling system error”, "stop vehicle" and the like.

I was super glad when that ride was over — doubly so because I had my 9 year old daughter with me.
