The first stable release of the new 1.18 series is now available containing the collective fixes and improvements put into all the previous 1.17 releases by the many people who have contributed to Wesnoth over the last two and a half years! For more details see https://r.wesnoth.org/t57843 as usual, or take a look through https://www.wesnoth.org/start/1.18/

1.17.26 is released! This is the first release candidate (RC1) in preparation for the planned release of 1.18 in March, and as such it now points to the 1.18 add-ons server instead of the 1.17 add-ons server.

For obvious reasons this release contains only fixes, most notable among those being a fix for units disappearing or flickering when the attack dialog is open and a fix for the Skip Animation button vanishing when watching a replay.

1.17.25 has been released! Most notable in this release is that Wesnoth will no longer crash after the end of watching a campaign's credits. Additionally, a new windmill has been added which is not so easily mistaken for being a village.

1.16.11 has been released! This is again a fairly quiet release, but notably a fix has been implemented to address a lot of the "Something is wrong with the add-on version check database supporting the multiplayer lobby" errors in online multiplayer.

1.17.24 has been released! Most notable in this release is the Schedule Editor in the in-game editor now actually saves custom schedules so they can be used. Changing the color sliders and pressing the preview button shows a preview of the tint on the map.

Additionally, the Pick Advance mod has had multiple sources of out of sync errors have been fixed, particularly after reloading a game.

1.17.23 has been released! Most notable in this release is that at long last the game credits screen has been fixed to actually work instead of immediately causing Wesnoth to crash.

1.17.22 has been released!

Additionally, with this release the feature freeze has (mostly) begun, meaning that if you've authored an add-on for 1.16 then this is the point at which you can start testing to see what issues there might be in preparation for 1.18.0 releasing in a few months. There may also have been bugs introduced with all the changes that have been made, so please report any that you find!

1.17.21 has been released! Most notable in this release is the complete rework of the Eastern Invasion campaign to improve nearly all aspects of the campaign, including its characterization, plot, scenario design, and AI.

Additionally, this will be the final release before the feature freeze and string freeze starts with 1.17.22, with 1.18.0 currently planned to be released in February 2024.

I'm proud to announce that a Wesnoth has turned 20 years old! Starting with version 0.1 tagged on June 18th 2003, Wesnoth has grown with the help of hundreds of volunteers continually improving all aspects of the game. And while admittedly Wesnoth is no longer at the peak of its popularity, there are still many developers, translators, add-on authors, moderators, and players helping to keep Wesnoth going strong. Thank you everyone for all your work, and here's to another 20 years of Wesnoth!

1.17.18 has been released! Most notably in this release there have been a variety of fixes and improvements to Wesnoth's python tool (and also wmllint now works again).

As usual, for further details see https://r.wesnoth.org/t57026 - the macOS version has been delayed due to an Apple account issue but will be released when we're able to do that.
